Dr. Steve Odero is both alawyer and political scientist from Kenya.

He was awarded his PhD degree in Political Theory with a specialization in Comparative Constitutional Law at the Luiss University of Rome, Italy. His PhD thesis is titled Constitutional Mechanisms for the Management and Settlement of Identity Conflicts: The Cases of Sudan Kenya and Somalia. Dr. Odero holds a Master of Law degree with a specialization in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the Center for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria in South Africa and Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. His Masters thesis is titled Federalism as a Peacemaking Device in Sudans Interim National Constitution. Additionally he has worked on several projects as a researcher, law lecturer at Africa Nazarene University, Kenya and University of Pretoria, South Africa. At the Institute for Diplomacy and International Studies, University of Nairobi, Dr. Odero served as a PhD research associate where he worked on the prospects of autonomy as an antidote for clanism in Somalia. At the Amnesty International United Nations Office in New York, he researched on the responsibility of United Nations peacekeepers for allegations of violence and sexual exploitation of women and children. His research interests are in criminal law, postcolonial political philosophy, international law and relations, conflict resolution good governance and democratisation in Africa, constitutional law and anthropology.
