Your textbook for this course is called: MathLinks 9 If it is lost or stolen, you will need to pay for it before another text will be issued to you. There are on-line resources to support this textbook. More on that later :) Your progress this year will be evaluated in the following manner:
For each term: Assignments 50% Learning Log (Journal) Problem-Solving Investigations Homework Quizzes / Tests 50%

Your mark each term as well as your final mark in June will be a cumulative mark of all tests, quizzes and assignments for each term. There is no final exam in this course. Your marks can be improved by retaking tests and quizzes when you have demonstrated an effort to improve through extra study and lunchtime or after school tutorials. When you are absent it is your responsibility to make up the missed work. *Should you need to phone someone in the class to find out the missing work:

You will have a Math Self-Evaluation Sheet (MSE) to help keep you organized and inform your parents of your progress. You will mark your own textbook assignments out of 4 according to these criteria:

4 / 4 for complete, question copied, marked and corrected. All work shown. 3 / 4 for almost all complete, marked and corrected. All work shown. 2/ 4 maximum if not marked, but mostly complete. 1 / 4 for not much done, but started, or answers only. 0 / 4 Not Acceptable. Work will need to be completed at home or in AI.

All textbook assignments are due, (marked and corrected) at the beginning of the next math class. At the end of each unit, I will collect your unit assignments. There will be homework checks to help you stay on track. At the end of each unit, you will be asked to get your MSE sheet signed by a parent/guardian. The MSE sheet and assignments are then handed in. In this course you are expected to:

Come prepared to class (binder, paper, pencil, eraser, calculator, textbook). Talk your TAG teacher if you have arrived at school unprepared. Be on time, IN YOUR SEAT when the bell rings Keep your electronic devices in your locker. (This includes: cell phones, I-pods, MP3s, game systems, etc.) Keep junk food, pop or energy boosting drinks out of the classroom. Water bottles are okay; nutritious snacks with permission. Contribute to a positive learning environment by respecting classmates and allowing the teacher to teach. Take responsibility for YOUR own learning. Have fun in responsible and respectful ways. Own your behaviour.
