Introduction to Refrigeration and Air conditioning Systems

Introduction
Air conditioning and refrigeration basically means controlling and maintaining the condition and the nature of the air at the desirable level. The main purpose of the air conditioning is not only makes a cooler environment. In modern air condition systems are used to cleaning (filtering) the air, dehumidifying and circulating the inside air etc. In generally the job of the air conditioner is to take the thermal energy from lower temperature region and transfer it to the higher temperature region. The first law of thermodynamics states that the heat flow occurs from a hot source to a cooler sink. Therefore energy in a form of work must be given to the system in order to get heat to flow from lower temperature region to higher temperature region.

We can identify two main methods used in refrigeration. Those are as follows. Cycling refrigeration - This is where the chemical component flows (circulate) throughout the coils in air conditioner and absorbed heat from inside and then dissipate heat to outer environment. Further we can divide cycling refrigeration in to two components. Vapour compression Gas compression

Non-Cycling refrigeration This use cold objective (such as ice) to absorbed energy from high temperature regions. This method is heavily used to preserve foods such as fish, meets etc.
