    The Anointed One


    Messiah = Anointed (Hebrew; Old Testament)
    Christ = Anointed (Greek; New Testament)

    John 1:1-3
    1. In the beginning was the Word (logos)
    2. And the Word was with God (ho theos) 3. And the Word was God (theos).

    (1) The Word existed before the creation of the world (Gen 1:1)

    (2) The Word was with God.


    (3) The Word was divine.

    The Logos
    The Logos = The Word (Greek)
    The Logos was an ancient concept of a mediating power through which God worked.
    God created the world through his Logos God deals with men through his Logos

    Christ is Gods Logos.

    John 1:1-3
    1. In the beginning was the Christ
    2. And the Christ was with God (ho theos) 3. And the Christ was God (theos).

    (1) The Christ existed before the creation of the world (Gen 1:1)

    (2) The Christ was with God.


    (3) The Christ was divine.
