ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT IN MATHEMATICS

S.Y. 2010-2011
I. Introduction

Elementary Mathematics is one of the most important subject in the Basic Elementary Curriculum (BEC) at present and also from the previous curriculum. If there is a change in teaching Mathematics today, that is about emphasizing and strengthening the useful values in every lesson. More strategies were introduced but the objectives and skills were still the same. For this generation, Mathematics instruction was given a full concentration on true-to-life problem situation for mastery and application of the skills learned. Basically at the start of the school year, pupils were given diagnostic test to help teachers in determining the specific nature of the pupils difficulties. Every lesson is followed by formative test, summative test for each unit and periodical test to measure the childrens achievement. At the end of the school year, pupils were given numerous post test such as National Achievement Test, Regional Achievement Test, and School Achievement Test.

Activities and Accomplishments for the School Year 2010-2011

Maria Aurora Central School (MACS) actively participated in different Mathematics contest. Because of class disruptions due to the other extra school activities, especially the long and hectic sports competition, we got low performance from our intermediate participants (many of them are member of different sports team). But (Grade I-IV ) remained supreme and undefeated to the District Math competitions. Despite the heavy losses of intermediate Math teams at District level, all of them were qualified to compete in the Division level. Bad luck followed the division participants when they failed to improve to this years edition of Division MTAP Contest.

The following are the results shown by the MACS pupils in different Math competitions:

A. District MTAP Contest: Grade I Grade II Grade III Grade IV

1st Place in a team of 3 1st Place in a team of 3 1st Place in a team of 3 1st Place in a team of 3

Grade V Grade VI

2nd Place in a team of 3 3rd Place in a team of 3

B. District Super Quiz Bee- 1st Place

C. Division MTAP Contest: Grade I Grade II Grade III Grade IV Grade V Grade VI -

2nd Place in a team of 2 1st Place in a team of 2 3rd lace in a team of 2 4th lace in a team of 2 6th Place in a team of 2 8th Place in a team of 2

Hopefully, this coming school year, we will try to recover the rank in district level and participate competitively in the division level.
