EXECUTIVE SUMMARY All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost

This research is proposed on the basis of data to be collected from within the IIT and other higher education institutions in Uttarakhand. The duration of the project will be three years. This research project aims at highlighting the adverse effects of the new and upcoming technology on the young adults, their changes in mind set and the consequent impact of it on their lives and an entire generation of growing young man power. The study brings into light the much needed attention to this growing problem and it also proposes possible remedies. The project observes that the technical advancements that were meant to be casual time passes and devices to improve the way of life are now things of obsession and addiction among the younger generation. This addiction to the inanimate objects are in turn turning the youngsters introvert, and making them go into a shell, in effect its impeding their overall mental progress. Taking the example of a modern bus ride, we hardly see anyone talking to anyone else, and this includes even their friends and acquaintances. They are so busy listening to the songs on their I pods or playing games or watching a video on another similar gadget. Technological innovations and advancements are primarily concerned with the profit making of the organization than taking care of all the basic developmental needs of its target audience. This bitter truth is being highlighted by the aforesaid technological advances. The basic factors that we could identify which affected our target group primarily are 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
