The week ahead

People use language and arts to celebrate their culture and traditions.
Unit of Inquiry This week we will continue to investigate Eid and Diwali celebrations. The children will be presenting and sharing their own perspectives of these celebrations as well as reflecting on UN International Day of Peace which was on st September 21 2011. Language Arts This week we shall look at colour poems. Students will use adjectives to paint a picture with words to describe different colours. Maths We shall continue to solve addition and subtraction problems. Having completed our diagnostic assessments, we are going to review and develop students understanding of place value. Students will be learning to represent number using manipulatives and in the written form (hundred blocks, dice, cards, cubes, objects etc.) We shall continue to investigate patterns including odd and even numbers, revisit number bonds to 10 and 20 and fact families. Top Tip Why not try to practice number bonds to 10 and 20 in the car on the way to and from school?

Touching Base Great to meet and chat to all of our grade 2 parents this last week. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive year ahead. Reminder that grade 2 students will be brought to the shaded area by the MYP dining hall on the pitch side at the end of the day to meet parents. Each class has its own labelled play house that they will wait for parents.

Look at what I did! Keeping a chart or graph that illustrates the number of books a child has read can bring a sense of accomplishment.
