Syllabus

for AIAD Program Course Description: The program Am I a Doctor, is an initiative of Centro Quirrgico Mdicos Unidos S.A, in collaboration with St. Mary's College of California through a mutual cooperation agreement with premed students of this university, who will have the opportunity of an extra-curricular experience that will enrich them personally and will discover their vocation for medicine, a career that demands great sacrifice and a profound attitude for service. Similarly students may be in an atmosphere conducive to practice their Christian principles and to help the needy. Course Material: The lab coat, stethoscope, scrubs, course material and pen will be provided by the hospital to each student after they are presented. Housing: At the house the following will be available: 24-hour security service, food, laundry service, wireless Internet, cable TV, etc. The food will be served respecting each student's medical history. Daily procedures: During the stay, the student is present every day from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. By early morning, every day, there will be a devotional time by students, and then they will begin teaching sessions both practical and theoretical. During

the morning they will have lecture, and during the evening practice, unless the criteria established by department heads assign a different activity. The rotations will be a week service, the rotated services are: Hospitalization and Emergency Outpatient Auditorium Etc. In each rotation there will be two assessments: a general assessment of the issue of class schedule and a specific assessment of the department head or teacher assigned to each student. Grading Scale: The evaluation parameters are: Punctuality and Attendance: 20 pts Respect for the patient and his classmates: 10 pts Assessment of issues for review in Room: 40 pts Note rotation of reviews: 30 pts The minimum to pass each module will be 80 pts. If the student fails to earn enough points then there will be extra credit available, which amounts to the total points to reach the minimum score. Regulations: During the course, students will be under the supervision of faculty assigned to them and shall be governed by the internal rules of the institution, so that

the student who violates these regulations shall be subject to disciplinary board, with the corresponding penalty and this behavior be recorded on their transcript. *The students will not be permitted to perform any critical practice that may severely damage a patient. During critical practices, only the specialist may assist the patient and the student may only observe. The student must be submitted on time for their check-in wearing their lab coat, stethoscope, and pen blue or black ink. I will not accept other types of colors, or closed flat shoes and no jewelry, except the watch that will be useful in all their activities practices. Students must follow all instructions of the supervisor, being issued by the faculty and staff of the institution, to be assigned as a according to the type and complexity of the activity to be performed. The student may carry their camera or take pictures on their cell phones of patients or interesting cases respecting the patient's identity and prior consent. Students should familiarize themselves with the hospital environment, to discover their vocational guidance, learning to relate to different people such as patients, families, workers, external physicians, health ministry supervisors, etc.

Students must do background reading of the themes already established, these readings will be guided by the head teacher. These issues will be reviewed at pre-selected web pages.

Students must remain at all times on the hospital premises at the scheduled time for classes. The hospital unit can only be abandoned in the company of authority, and by prior consent of the head teacher. Students must remain in the premises of the housing complex for safety purposes, and must comply with the recommendations of the administrative and service personnel to be assigned by the hospital. Under no circumstances must leave the property, and in case of any emergency situation should call the emergency numbers that are assigned, to ensure transport facilities with safe custody, where they can have options to resolve the drastic situation of which they are victims.
