• Oedipus went to the sphinx to solve its riddle and
he answered it correctly, the reward was the
kingship of Thebes and marrying the Queen (his mother), fulfilling the phropecy. • Oedipus became the new ruler of Thebes and had 4 children’s with the Queen. • Oedipus faces problem, a plague was consuming his kingdom and people believes as a curse of the God’s because of the old kings death. • Oedipus started to searched for the kings murderer in a manner of accusing everybody whom he believed the suspect.
• As a young man, Oedipus heard a rumor that
he was not the biological son of king Polybus and Merope, but he just ignored it. • The oracle has a phropecy to Oedipus that he is to kill his father and mate his mother. • Oedipus decided to leave Corinth, hoping to prevent the phropecy from happening. • On his way, he had killed a man who happened to be his biological father due to an argument on the road, fulfilling some of the phropecy.
• The king of Thebes Laius and Queen Jocasta had given
a birth to a son, who soon to replace his father on the throne. • A prophecy had been told that king Laius is to perish by the hand of his own son, so the king ordered to exile his son and leave him to his death in the Jungle. • The baby (Oedipus) was not killed but instead the messenger cast him away to Corinth of which he was adopted by King Polybus and Merope. • The baby was named Oedipus and now a young man believing that his parents were the ruler Corinth.
