Gifts from the Heart to Bastrop MOPS

These moms had lost everything and we were able to be the arms and feet of Jesus to them after the wildfires. We collected two van loads of diapers, clothes, snacks, etc. and on September 9th we took items to Sugarland, the staging area for the Bastrop wildfire donations. The drop-off site was an ordinary house, but there was something extra-ordinary about the place. The driveway was FULL of donated items. I met the lady that started it all, Jessica Shockley from Grand Parkway Baptist church MOPS. It all started with her and her husbands heart to drive a trailer with aid to Bastrop, and then then word got out to Houston MOPS. She was overwhelmed and amazed at the response. I saw the truck on the street (26' U-Haul) and knew everything was not going to fit. She told me that there were still eight more loads still to arrive that day. God is good! So, that night tons of folks got together and packed up everything and drove it to Bastrop the next day. In the end, it took two large U-Haul trucks and two SUVs to transport all the items. Jennifer Pennington, another MOPS mom from Grand Parkway, wrote: "I can just tell you for the six of us that went up there and back; we came back moved, humbled, raw, emotional, happy, fulfilled and wondrous in God's work and his ultimate plan. I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful Amy, Misty and the rest of their team (from Bastrop County MOPS) were at how much showed up. Tears were fought back and hugs were long and tight!" All this to say, thank you for donating to these families in Bastrop!
