6.1.5 Accept constriuctive feedback to improve and refine teaching and learning practices.

During this practicum, I had a Kindergarten class with special needs and behaviour students. With the first lesson, the students completed the task but were not very responsive with my behaviour management. The teacher recommended I use her class rules and I found the students to be very settled and responsive. This constructive feedback for myself, improved my teaching practise in an environment where I was unfamiliar. 6.1.2 Demonstrate knowledge of the professional standards framework and its impact on the professional life of a teacher.

6.1.1 Demonstrate a capacity to reflect critically on and improve teaching practice.

LESSON 5

Lesson Name: Web quest Activity

EVALUATION

During this lesson, there were problems with the Weebly opening up for the students. On reflection, each computer should have been checked for this before class as well as how many computers actually worked. After I completed the lesson, I realised how I would do this lesson differently, having half the class doing one activity and the other half doing the computers.

At the commencement of this lesson, the laptops would not open weebly under a students account log in. This wasted precious time as each computer had to be logged in by a teacher so the activity could be done. A few computers were not working which should have been checked the day before as it meant some children had to be in groups of 3 to complete the activity. As a future lesson, this lesson needed to be divided into two parts. The research assessment did not get started as the students ran out of time. Also depending on class size, it would be beneficial to have half the class working on a written part and half on the computers. This would have allowed for a quality time period rather than a rushed report. The students were highly engaged in the lesson and did apply their deeper understanding of the topic to the work sheet questions. The interactive website also proved successful as the students were not having to shift through information to find what they needed. It was more directed and succinct for the students. 6.1.8 Recognises the range of of policies and policy documents that teachers in NSW may need to comply with following employment in a school.

TEACHING/LEARNING EXPERIENCES

Outcomes TS3.1 Communicates effectively for a range of purposes and with a variety of audiences to express well developed well organised ideas dealing with more challenging topics.

To construct meaningful lessons that ensure students meet the standards set out in the Quality Teaching Framework, teachers need to be aware of the skills and plan for them in their lessons as well as comply with the NSW Syllabus. During my Unit of work, I ensured the QTF was met as well as the syllabus.
