Advisory 2. Kim Dawson, Nicole Solig, Bernie Terry, and I met to discuss Advisory. We saw the problems/needs as: 1. Lack of consistency across advisories 2. Lack of support/access to resources

To over come these problems we suggest: 1. Continue the practice of "designated days", but honoring them and making them "sacred" -- no announcements, assemblies, activities. a. Monday, Wednesday -- Community Circle (check-ins) b. Thursday -- Grade checks, academic support, projects c. Friday -- community building 2. Model short advisory activities in PDs. 3. Make activities available in PeBL and resources such as craft supplies available. 4. Form a teacher support group (mentoring, brainstorming, etc.) 5. Organize "intra-advisory" activities, such as relay races in the quad, hall-bowling, spelling bee, math contest 6. Clearly define the role of adviser, especially as student advocate 7. Home visits a. Make home visits as a team. i. Accountability ii. Help overcome language barriers b. Create a check list of items to discuss, such as school-wide expectations, policies, grades, grade portal, grad requirements, etc. 8. Form a committee to make sure 2-6, 8b gets done and to address other needs as they come up. Next steps: 1. Populate PeBL with activities 2. Calendar Intra-advisory activities 3. Plan for time during Sept Orientation/PD Glen Hutloff, Alberto Castaeda, Christian Quintero, Anat Herzog 1. School Expectations (Discipline, Tardy, Absent) a. Process suggested 1. Clarify existing Expectations for Professionalism to staff and administrators 2. Communicate "Expectations for Professionalism" to staff and administrators in clear and concise way 3. Develop process to implement, enforce, achieve staff and student buy-in of discipline policy 4. Identify challenges in implementing policy 5. How to communicate the policy to students? Tentatively Schedule for August PD 4,5,6
