BASIC CONCEPT OF THIS FILM IS EDUCATION; WHICH IS MEANT TO LIBERATE HUMAN BEINGS THROUGH KNOWLEDGE, IS STEADILY BINDING THEM INTO A DEATHLY KNOT.ACTUALLY THIS FILM IS LOOSELY BASED ON THE INCIDENTS OF STUDENTS COMMITING SUICIDE UNDER OPTIMUM SOCIAL PRESSURE, AFTER OR BEFORE GIVING THEIR BOARD EXAMS.
NARRATIVE:
THE FILM IS A MONOPLAY.THE PROTAGONIST HERE IS
A STUDENT OF HIGHER SECONDARY OR EQUIVALENT EXAMINATION.HIS EXAM TIME IS NEAR & HE IS STUDYING.THIS IS WHERE OUR FILM STARTS.HE IS A NORMAL HUMAN BEING WITH A SOUND BRAIN BUT NOT A BOOKWORM.AS WE PROGRESS WE CAN SEE AN UTTER FRUSTRATION IS CREEPING WITHIN HIM BECAUSE HE CANNOT MEMORISE A SUBJECT AND THROWS OFF THE BOOK.I HAVE CONCIOUSLY DRAWN A PARRALEL BETWEEN HIM AND A CANDEL STAND SYMBOLISING A PEER PRESSURE OF EDUCATION AS A BURDEN NOT ONLY TO HIM BUT TO THE MASSES.THERE COMES A DREAM SEQUENCE WHERE HE BURNS ALL HIS BOOKS AND IS DANCING IN JOY OF FREEDOM.THIS DREAM OR THOUGHT REFRESHES HIS SOUL TO CONTINUE HIS DIG IN THE TORTURING EDUCATION SYLLABUS.FINALLY THE LIGHTS COME ON AS A SIGN OF CURE TO THIS BOY.
TREATMENT:
THIS BOY, OUR PROTAGONIST, DOES NOT EXIST IN
REALITY.BUT HE IS PRESENT WITHIN EVERY ONE OF US IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT WE ARE.WE HAVE CONFINED HIM OR RATHER ERADICATED HIM FROM OUR SOULS DUE TO SOCIAL TABOOS OF BECOMING AN INSTITUTIONALLY SOUND EDUCATED MAN.BUT WE SHOULD THINK THIS ONCE, ATLEAST ONCE -- BECOMING VERY HONEST TO OURSELVES.HAVE WE NEVER BECOME FRUSTRATED WITH OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM? YES WE HAVE.MOST OF US OFCOURSE, BUT WE HAVE STILL MANAGED TO GET OVER WITH IT IN DUE COURSE OF TIME.BUT WHAT ABOUT THEM WHO HAS NEVER MADE IT THAT FAR.I MEAN STUDENTS WHO COMMIT SUICIDE.ARE THEY COWARD? NO THEY ARE NOT.THEN WHO IS TO BLAME? THE PARENTS, THE SYSTEM, OR THE SOCIETY? THAT IS SOMETHING WE HAVE TO ASK OURSELVES.THIS IS WHAT I HAD TO SAY THROUGH MY FILM.EDUCATION IS MEANT TO LIBERATE NOT TO BECOME A BURDEN. IN THE BEGINNING I HAVE USED BULBS TO SHOOT WHICH GIVES A YELLOW COLOUR.THIS COLOUR IS PSYCHOLOGICALLY USED HERE TO SYMBOLISE SICKNESS OR MENTAL UNSTABILITY.THE CANDEL SIGNIFIES BURDEN OF EDUCATION.AT THE END THE TUBE LIGHT WITH WHITE COLOUR IS MEANT FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL PEACE, STABILITY AND FREEDOM.
