Learning Objectives: The student will begin to: Understand how to skip count by twos Begin to understand the multiples of two and how to skip count Instructional Objectives: Waukesha Elementary Learning Targets: Mathematics-2: 1a. Use a variety of strategies to solve problems efficiently and evaluate reasonableness of results. Assessment: Angelina will be asked to complete a worksheet in which she will experience skip counting my twos in many different ways, through line charts, using drawn manipulatives and also with just numerals. Materials Needed: 40 Manipulatives Chalk Board Chalk 2 White Boards Markers Total Time needed: 24-30 minutes Procedures: Steps for instruction: Warm Up: I will begin by asking Angelina if she knows what skip counting by 2s is? Then I will begin counting: 2, 4, 6, 8 and continue to see if she joins in and can carry on counting without me. This will give me an idea as to how high she is able to count to by twos. Instruction: I will then lay out a pile of manipulatives on that table. I will ask her to pick out two of the pieces, then pick out two more. How many total do you have? She will then write the number of items on the board. Then pick two more and have her count them again. We will continue this process so she can visually see how skip counting works.

After this activity I will then draw a number line 1-20 on the board. I will ask Angelina if she can connect the numbers by twos, connecting 2 to 4 to 6 to 8 etc. This will then show her how to count by using the number line.
