COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

This is a critical study of the life, works, and writings of Rizal as they relate to the socio-political situation of the Philippines during his time and its implication to the present time. It focuses on the analysis of his two novels “Noli Me Tangere and the El Filibusterismo” and some selected poem and essays. Students are expected to demonstrate critical thinking through analysis by writing a reaction paper on the impact of the two novels and/or a written reflection on Rizal’s life, ideas and works.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

1. Demonstrate an understanding and a recognition of the relevance of Rizal’s ideals, thoughts, teachings, and life values to the present conditions and apply them in the solutions of day-to-day situations and problems 2. Imbibe and apply Rizal’s manifested value of love and respect to family and fellowmen by upholding the desired Filipino family values, industry-desired values, and global citizen values
