Thallophyta and Bryophyta

Thallophyta : thallos undifferentiated and phyton : plant. It is division of plantae in which the plants do not have a well differentiated body design. For example: Ulothrix, Ulva, Cladophora, Chara, Spirogyra etc. They are aquatic plant. So, they are also called algae. Bryophyta : bryon moss and phyton plant. It is a division of non-vascular plants having an embryo stage in their life cycle. For example: Riccia, Marchantia, Funaria etc. They live in moist areas (water as well as land). So, they are also called amphibian. Male sex organ are called antheridia while female sex organ are called archegonia. Similarities between Thallophyta and Bryophyta: Thallophyta & Bryophyta 1.Vascular system absent . 2. Do photosynthesis for nutrition. 3. Reserve food in starch. 4. Root are absent(they are fixed by means of hair-like rhizoids). 5. Cell wall contain Cellulose. 6. Fertilization takes place in water. 7. Nacked

Difference between Thallophyta and Bryophyta: Thallophyta Bryophyta 1. Unicellular and non-jacketed. 2.Embryo absent. 3. They are mostly aquatic. 4. Don't have differentiated body. 1. Multicellular and jacketed. 2. Embryo present. 3. They live in moist areas(water as well as land). 4. Have differentiated body.

Both Thallophyta and Bryophyta are sub-group of cryptogamae.
