ACOUSTIC HORNS CLEAN BOILERS

Powerwave Acoustic Horns

Powerwave acoustic horns are air operated horns that produce low frequency, high energy sound waves. The sound waves emitted by the acoustic horns resonate and dislodge ash deposits from structural surfaces enabling gas flow to sweep the ash deposits away. The frequencies generated by the Powerwave acoustic horns are well above the resonate frequency of structural surfaces and are not damaging to the boiler tubes or refractory. This enables the acoustic horns to be operated very frequently, never allowing the ash deposits to build-up and become cindered. The Powerwaves operating sequencing (typically, 10 seconds every 10 minutes) eliminates excessive surges of ash deposits to the pollution control device.

ACOUSTIC HORNS HAVE PRODUCED EXCELLENT RESULTS ON THE FOLLOWING:

- Coal fired boilers - CO boilers - Wood fired boilers - Oil fired boilers - Heat exchangers - Economizers - Chemical recovery boiler

WHY ARE ACOUSTIC SYSTEMS BETTER THAN STEAM SOOTBLOWERS?

CAPITAL BENEFITS
Acoustic systems are almost always less expensive Minimal installation costs

OPERATIONAL BENEFITS
Operating cost savings (air vs. steam) Less maintenance required Improved cleaning

MORE BENEFITS OF ACOUSTIC CLEANING

Heat transfer efficiency Decreased pressure resistance across the system Reduced annual maintenance expense in labor and materials Reduced production downtime Fuel consumption relative to steam output Buildup removal due to augmented cleaning Reduction in steam sootblowing Extended time period between outages (longer run times) Elimination of ash surges to pollution control device Each application is site specific and varies based upon the physical dimensions of the area to be cleaned. These dimensions determine the location to mount the horns which will be most conducive to effective performance. Other applications for Powerwave acoustic horns include: electrostatic precipitators, SCR systems, air heaters, I.D. fans, hoppers, ductwork, and baghouses. Acoustic horns mounted on boiler.
