Training:
The term training refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies. Some commentators use a similar term for workplace learning to improve performance: "training and development". One can generally categorize such training as onthe-job or off-the-job: On-the-job training takes place in a normal working situation, using the actual tools, equipment, documents or materials that trainees will use when fully trained. On-the-job training has a general reputation as most effective for vocational work. Off-the-job training takes place away from normal work situations implying that the employee does not count as a directly productive worker while such training takes place. Offthe-job training has the advantage that it allows people to get away from work and concentrate more thoroughly on the training itself.

Coaching:
Coaching, with a professional coach, is the practice of supporting an individual, referred to as the client or coachee, through the process of achieving a specific personal or professional result. The structures, models and methodologies of coaching are numerous but are predominantly facilitating in style; that is the coach mainly asks questions and challenges the coachee to find answers from within himself/herself based on their values, preferences and unique perspective.

Mentoring:
Mentoring deals in helping to shape an individuals beliefs and values in a positive way, often a long term career relationship from someone who has done it before. It is a powerful personal development and empowerment tool. It is an effective way of helping people to progress in their careers and is becoming increasing popular as its potential is realised. It is a partnership between two people (mentor and mentee) normally working in a similar field or sharing similar experiences. It is a helpful relationship based upon mutual trust and respect.
