Six of the values that commonly apply to cal ethics discussions are: 1.

Autonomy - the patient has the right to refuse choose their treatment. 2. Beneficence - a practitioner should act in the interest of the patient (duty). 3. Non-maleficence - "first, do no harm 4.Justice - concerns the distribution of health resources, and the decision of who gets what treatment. 5. Dignity - the patient (and the person treating he patient) have the right to dignity. 6. Truthfulness and honesty the concept of informed sent has increased in importance in recent years. Values such as these do not give answers as to how a particular situation, but provide a useful framework for understanding conflicts. When moral values are in conflict, the result may be an ethical dilemma or crisis.
