STUDENTS CODE OF CONDUCT


RATIONALE 1. In order to achieve better discipline of students in school for the purpose of developing in them admirable traits of character and well-rounded personality, this Students Code of Conduct is hereby promulgated for their observance. 2. This Code of Conduct is a set of rules governing students behavior in school. ARTICLE I DEFINITION OF TERMS 1. Blacklisted a student who is debarred / disallowed from enrollment. 2. Code a system of rules and regulations governing the conduct in particular cases. 3. Conduct the voluntary control and directions of one s action toward moral or spiritual development. 4. Dangerous Drugs refers to either : a. Prohibited Drug , which includes opium and its active components and its derivatives such as heroin and morphine; coca leaf and its derivatives, principally cocaine; alpha and beta eucaine: hallucinogenic drugs, such as medicine, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and other substances producing similar effects. b. Deliver refers to a person s act of knowingly passing dangerous drug to another, personally or otherwise, and by any means, with consideration. c. Indian hemp Otherwise known as marijuana embraces every kind and class of the plant cannabis sativum L. from which the resin has not been extracted, including cannabis americana, basbish, bhang, guaza, churus and ganjab, and embraces every kind, class and character of Indian hemp. 5. Nuisance an act, conditions, thing, or person causing trouble, annoyance, or inconvenience. 6. Vandalism deliberate destruction caused by a vandal or an instance of such destruction/ the willful or malicious destruction or defacement of property. ARTICLE II GENERAL BEHAVIOR Section 1. Students shall at all times be respectful, courteous in their conduct, neat, clean, orderly and decent in their clothing. Section 2. Students shall refrain from using indecent language and from committing unbecoming acts that may cause dishonor, discredit, or inconvenience to other students, faculty members, employees or officials of the administration of the school. Section 3. Students shall not bring to school literature, pictures, or objects that are morally offensive. Section 4. Student shall not at anytime bring to the premises of the school any alcoholic drinks or enter the premises under the influence of liquor. If there is doubt whether the student is under the influence of liquor or not, the question shall be resolved by the school authority. Section 5. Students shall not write, draw, or do other acts of vandalism on blackboards, walls, and doors of the school building, fences and other school properties. Section 6. Students shall not damage any property within the school premises. Section 7. Students shall not carry harmful weapons of any kind whether concealed or open, nor shall these weapons be used to threaten people in school. Section 8. Students shall not spit on the steps or anywhere inside the building. Section 9. Students shall not throw waste paper and other rubbish in the premises except into trash cans or like receptacles. Section 10. Students shall not disturb classes by loitering along the corridors, standing at open doors while classes are going on, and / or talking aloud or whistling while passing by the room.

Students are prohibited from joining fraternities / sororities and other unlawful organization not recognized by the school. Section 13. Students are prohibited from extorting money and other personal properties of other students. Section 14. In case of earthquake, fire, or other emergencies, the rules on room evacuation shall apply. Section 15. Students are not allowed to play and practice at the quadrangle and at the Students Development Center (SDC) during class hours. Section 16. Students are not allowed to charge their cell phones, mp3, and other gadgets in the school premises. Section 17. Students are prohibited from smoking in the school premises. ARTICLE III BEHAVIOR IN CLASSROOM Section 1 Students shall attend classes regularly and punctually. Tardiness of more than ten (10) minutes without justifiable reason shall be considered an absence. Section 2 Before entering the classroom the students shall form their lines under the supervision of the teacher. All students shall stand before the teacher starts the class and greet the teacher and one another. Section 3 Students shall stand when called upon to recite or when presenting questions to the teacher. Section 4 Students are prohibited to use cell phones and other gadgets while classes are going on except when used as an instructional tool. Section 5 Students shall leave the room quietly and in an orderly manner. Section 6 Students waiting to occupy the room shall enter after the outgoing class has left the room. Section 7. Students may leave the classroom only upon permission granted by the teachers. ARTICLE IV LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

Section 1 The following rules and regulations governing the use of the Library shall apply: (a) Library Hours: 1. Regular Days - 8:00 AM - 12:00 NN 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM (b) All teachers, students, parents and alumni of the LNHS are given the privileges to avail of the library resources and services. (c) All students are required to wear their identification cards inside the library. (d) Procedure in Borrowing and Returning Books 1. All students with identification cards properly signed, are given the chance to enter the library to look for the books they would like to borrow. 2. General references and reserved books are for library use only. Circulation books can be borrowed for an overnight use only and must be returned the following day. 3. If the student/borrower is unable to return the book on the due date, he/she will be required to render library service depending on the number of days overdue.

4. Any borrower who returns a library book damaged beyond reasonable wear and tear must change the book. If he/she losses a book he must report the matter at once to the librarian and must replace the book with the same title and its copyright or by paying in cash.

(e) Conduct in the Library 1. Students must wear their school ID every day. When in the library, they must observe silence strictly. They should not talk aloud while studying. They must walk quietly and arrange the chairs quietly after using. 2. Students should help maintain the cleanliness of the library. The No Eating and No Smoking policy should be observed. 3. Students caught misbehaving in the library will either lose his library privileges or be suspended depending upon the gravity of the offense. (f) Meetings, classes and contests are not allowed in the library unless approved by the School Principal. ARTICLE V DISCIPLINARY SANCTIONS Penalties are imposed for violation of rules and regulations of the school. These penalties are not ends in themselves but are means to attain the ends which are: 1. To teach ideals of justice and respect for laws and authority. 2. To impress on the minds of the students the importance of regulations 3. To deter the students from committing any violative act. 4. To correct behavior and strengthen positive values of delinquent students. 5. To protect other students and the good name of the school from the corrupting influence of law breakers.

SANCTIONS ARE DETERMINED ACCORDING TO THE NATURE AND GRAVITY OF THE OFFENSE WHICH INCLUDES: 1. Counseling something that provides direction or advice as to a decision or course of action. 2. Warning - to inform and caution the student on the consequences of the misconduct which may be a cause for disciplinary action. 3. Censure to reprimand students either in oral or written form regarding the violation of a specific rule or regulation. 4. Probation to give the students a definite period of time for improvement. If a student on probation violates terms set forth on standards of conduct, the student can be subjected to disciplinary action which may lead to either suspension or dismissal. 5. Suspension to give way to an outcome that will be beneficial to both the students and the school. A student may be suspended for any violation which affect the accomplishment of the objectives of the school, create scandal, or cause blemish to the moral integrity of the school population. A student who is suspended shall not attend classes until delinquency had been discussed with his parents and the matter had been decided to the satisfaction of school authorities. Failure of the parents to appear after the school has summoned them would mean their waiver to accept the unilateral decision of school authorities. During the suspension period, the student must report to the office of the Principal or any designated area identified by the committee to do any related activities.

5.1 Preventive Suspension to make a student undergo investigation of a case involving the penalty of expulsion. He may be preventively suspended from entering the school premises if the evidence of guilt is strong and the school head is morally convinced that the continued stay of the student during the period of investigation constitutes a distraction to the normal operation of the school or poses a risk or danger to the life of persons and property in the school. 6. Dismissal to allow the school to dismiss or drop the name of erring student from the school rolls for being undesirable, and transfer credentials immediately issued. 7. Due process should be instituted prior to the imposition of punishment. 8. It is also the policy of the school that NO BLACKLISTED students are allowed to reenter for enrollment of the School. Any teacher or employee instrumental to the enrollment of blacklisted students will be subject to administrative sanction by the School Administration. 9. The School Administration, the Supreme Student Government and the School Governing Council are authorized to implement the students code of conduct.
