Benton 1 Jake Benton Professor Bruggeman December 8, 2011 Response to Missouri Southerns Penn State Statement The Penn

State incident sent a shock through the whole country. I believe Dr. Bruce Speck summed it up best when he said the events were, troubling and sobering. In fact, these events troubled Dr. Speck so much that he put out a formal statement to the faculty and staff of our university. The statement declares that, the Board of Governors and Administration are dedicated to the protection of anyone who comes on this campus, and we have no tolerance for violations of federal and state laws concerning sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct as defined by Yale University includes a wide range of acts in order to obtain sexual gratification against anothers will. That being said, I completely agree with Dr. Specks announcement. I feel like this campus should be purged of all sexual deviance of this and any other nature as well. Southern should be a safe haven and I feel that Dr. Speck has firmly laid the groundwork for that in this statement. The only thing that remains is to now enforce this thoroughly and disregard any leniency on the matter. As a health professional looking to open my own physical therapy clinic, I respect this declaration Dr. Speck has made. I plan to have a similar one instilled deeply into my employees and clinic as a whole. Sexual misconduct is not something to be taken lightly and feel Dr. Speck has done a fantastic job of ensuring the population of and around Missouri Southern understand this.
