DIPLODOCUS

By Marcos Ortega

The Diplodocus its a dinosaur. It had a long neck, a long tail, four sturdy legs and a small head. It had a great size. It was a long plant-eating animal, so it was herbivore. It may have been up to 30 meters long and an estimate weight of 10 tons.

It lived in North America at the end of the Jurassic period. They lived in marshy regions where they hid from predators.

The first Diplodocus fossil was found by Earl Douglass and Samuel W. Williston in 1877. Many Diplodocus fossils have been found, including a skin impresin.

The Diplodocus may have lived in and travelled in herds, which migrated from place to place when the local supply of plants was all eaten. Living in groups may have also provided the Diplodocus extra protection from any predators that were a threat. The Diplodocus laid eggs like other sauropods. The Diplodocus did not take care of their eggs or their young as some other species of dinosaurs.
