Note: Print out this problem sheet and attach your solution sheets to this problem sheet. Staple them and turn in. Remember to solve the problems step by step. Prob 1: Given the automobile shock absorber below, if m=1kg, b= 6 N-s/m, K=15 N/m, with zero initial conditions, to find the transfer function of the system, G(s)=Y(s)/R(s). (using d.e. with FBD to solve it) (10 pts)

Prob 2: Find the transfer function, G(s)=X1(s)/F(s), for system below. (two mass, two spring, one dashpot, two friction coefficients, with external force F applied to M2). (15 pts)

Prob 3: For the rotational mechanical system shown in the figure below, find the transfer function G(s)=U2(s)/T(s). (15 pts)

University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science Mechanical Engineering Technology Winter Quarter, 2012

Prob 4: For the motor, load, and torque-speed curve shown in figure below, find the transfer function G(s)=UL(s)/Ea(s). (20 pts)

Prob 5. The suspension system for one wheel of an old-fashioned pickup truck is illustrated in figure below. The mass of the vehicle supported by tire m1 = 500 kg and the mass of the wheel is m2 = 15 kg. The suspension spring has a spring constant k1 = 30,000 N/m, and the tire has a spring constant k2 = 60,000 N/m. The damping constant of the shock absorber is b = 7,500 Ns/m. (30 pts) a) Draw the system diagram. b) Obtain the transfer function G(s) = Y1(s)/X(s), which represents the vehicle response to bumps in the road. c) Find the system output y1(t), if system input is a unit step function and all initial conditions are zero. d) Plot the output response.
