February 2012

From Your HOA Board

Presidents Report: Kenneth Carruth
Your HOA Board conducted its statutory Annual Meeting on January 18, 2012. At that meeting in addition to the normal order of business, your board held an election of board members. As reported by June Kuhns, acting President in the January issue of the Bulow Bugle, Betty Pettibone and Hal Mesnard had agreed to run for another term. Sam Rudland was nominated to run for the seat that was open as a result of John Cirello deciding not to run for reelection. We want to thank John for his service to our community and look forward to continuing to see his face at upcoming meetings. There were no other nominations from the floor to fill the open seats and therefore the Secretary was instructed to cast a single vote to elect Betty Pettibone, Hal Mesnard and Sam Rudland to your board of directors. I would like to welcome Betty and Hal back to the board and I look forward to working with Sam Rudland as a new member of the board of directors. At the end of the meeting the board of directors met to select officers for the coming year (2012). They are as follows:
President: Kenneth Carruth penntown@comcast.net) Vice President: June Kuhns (muggskuhns@cfr.rr.com) Secretary: Carol Giambalvo (affcarol@att.net) Treasurer: Betty Pettibone (boneandbet@cfr.rr.com)

I have included our e-mail addresses so that you can reach us if you desire to do so. Finally, let me say that I am honored to act as your President this year and I know that you have heard it before, but I hope that more of our residents start to attend meetings of your board, consider joining the Homeowners Association, and get involved with your community. Is an hour once a month too much to give to be informed and involved with what is happening and what is planned for our community, I dont think so!! We will even give you a cup of coffee and a piece of pie if you attend. What a deal! Whatever you may have heard about our monthly meetings, I can assure you that they are not like, I have heard, they were many years ago. We have learned not to bite and to try to make our meetings informational for our residents. Please give us a try! I look forward to serving you and working with a great board of directors this year.

BULOW QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

POT LUCK EVENTS What is a Pot Luck, and what is involved if I volunteer to run one?? I believe that some people who live here at Bulow Plantation are not familiar with Pot Luck Events. So here we go to explain what a Pot Lock is, and what is my job if I volunteer to run a potluck. A Pot Luck Event, like it sounds, is a dinner gathering where everyone brings a pot, maybe its their favorite beans, or a special chicken dish or perhaps an age old recipe for a special salad. You get the idea. We all serve ourselves from a long table and sample everyone elses delicious dish. We talk, we exchange recipes, we laugh, and generally, we eat very well! P.S. bring your own plates and utensils. At my first Pot Luck, I had to eat with my hands-not a pretty sight! Well, that sounds like fun, but what am I responsible for if I volunteer to run a Pot Luck Event? The person running the Pot Luck has the following responsibilities: 1) You can have an old fashion pot luck, which has no theme or you can pick a theme and make a party of it. It is entirely up to you. You get the idea. 2) Show up early to set up the long table and put table covers on the dining tables, (this is where a husband or some friends come in handy.) 3) Get the coffee pots ready for the dinner; find large spoons and forks and/or other utensils needed in the kitchen drawers. 4) You can add some table centerpieces if you would like ( adds a little class) see Jeanne Widdis (hmesnard@gmail.com or 386-5176759) who is in charge of items for the pantry to get money for any items you need. 5) Stand up after the dinner and take credit for a great Pot Luck and then encourage

everyone to follow you into the kitchen to help clean up and put the tables and chairs away. Well, that is a Pot Luck Event in a nut shell, not so hard to run after all. So I expect to hear from Marilyn Jackson (386-439-1945) and Barbara Johnson (386-439-9667) who maintain our monthly Pot Luck calendar which is currently filled up until May, that their phones are ringing off the hook with offers to run a Pot Luck! If that happens then I wont have to ask each month at our monthly meeting if anyone wants to run a Pot Luck. This will allow us more time to say hello to everyone in the community, who I am sure are going to start attending the HOA meetings. Ken Carruth, President
