The Nine Muses

Calliope
Calliope was the Muse of Epic Poetry. He signature item was her writing tablet. One of her sons was the famous Orpheus. She, along with the rest of the Muses, was a daughter of Zeus.

Clio
Clio was the Muse of History. Her signature item was her Scrolls. She was a daughter of Zeus.

Erato
Erato was the Muse of Love Songs. Her signature object was her Lyre. She was a daughter of Zeus.

Euterpe
Euterpe was the Muse of Lyric Poetry. Her signature object was a flute. She was a daughter of Zeus.

Melpomene
Melpomene was the Muse of Tragedy, although she was also recognized as the Muse of Singing. Her signature object was a tragic mask. She was portrayed with a club a lot.

Polyhymnia
Polyhymnia was the Muse of Sacred Poetry and Hymns. Her signature item was her cloak and veil.

Terpsichore
Terpsichore was the Muse of Dance and Dramatic Chorus. Her signature object was a Lyre.

Thalia
Thalia was the Muse of Comedy and Idyllic Poetry. Her signature object was a comic mask.

Urania
Urania was the Muse of Astronomy. Her signature objects were a globe and compass.
