Dear Colleagues: We would be pleased if you and/or a representative from your organization could join us on short notice for

a special opportunity. Date: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 Time: 9:30 AM Place: PFLAG National Howard and Mildred Eychaner Conference Room 1828 L Street, NW, Suite 660 Washington, D.C. 20036
Refreshments will be served.

Together with the Embassy of Israel, we would like to invite you to join us for an informal conversation with Anat Avissar. Anat is the Director of International Affairs for the Aguda, Israel s National LGBT Task Force, which provides social, legal and clinical services to the LGBT community in Israel. Anat writes the sole lesbian column in Israel which appears in the YNE, the web edition of Yediot Achronit, Israel s most widely circulated daily newspaper. For those of you who had the opportunity to spend some time with her last November when she spoke at the Anti-Defamation League, she is back again to keynote the National Union for LGBT Jewish Students (NUJLS) conference. It will give us all an opportunity to hear her perspective on equality, the cultural differences that impact support, education and advocacy in Israel and to share our respective experiences in the movement.

The Aguda operates centers throughout the country of Israel including the Bar Noah youth center, which was the target of a tragic terror attack in 2009. The Aguda s Someone to Talk To hotline is the only support resource for the LGBT prayer community throughout the Middle East, and receives over 3000 calls per year from around the region. Please RSVP by Tuesday, 2/21 2:00 EDT, to jhuckaby@pflag.org
