Year 9 Geography Upside Down World Lesson 4 HW Lesotho s Problem Introduction

y y In the lesson we talked about why Lesotho has a problem and it was very obvious there were many causes and many were linked in many different ways! This homework is getting you sift through all those possibilities and come up with a definite idea in your head of what YOU think the reason is for the situation.

Task 1
y y

Make your decisions

The diamond formation has 9 spaces and you have 9 key players / causes of the situation. Decide which cause goes in which place on the diamond. o 1 is the most important o 2 and 3 are equally important but slightly less important than 1. o 4, 5 and 6 are equally important, but slightly less important than 2/3, but more important than 7/8 o And so on. 9 is the least. Then you must explain why, using information from the role-play cards to back up your points: o 1 is the most important o 2,3 o 4,5,6 o 7,8 o 9 is the least important

Hint / tip: This will almost certainly mean showing how different factors are linked together.

Task 2
y

Is there an alternative

Compare your answers with someone else. 1. To what extent can you agree with what they ve put? 2. What points do you think it s worth disagreeing about? 3. What points is it not i.e. why could they actually be right?

Task 3
