Definition The Full-Form of IBS is In-Building Solution, and IBS is a device which helps in network solutions in the buildings

Over view of IBS Todays wireless environment is comprised of various air interface technologies and frequency bands. Each one can have a profound effect on the ultimate performance of any new network, especially in-building wireless networks. Understanding how the RF environment outside affects the network performance inside is just as important as knowing how to design around it. At Andrew Solutions, were one step ahead. Introducing the i.Walk In-Building Network Design and Testing Solution. i.Walk represents an evolutionary new concept in the design and testing of todays in-building wireless networks. It is the industrys first out-of-the-box testing solution that provides mobile operators, wireless OEMs, system integrators and their RF engineers all the tools needed to survey the buildings RF environment, ensure an efficient Distributed Antenna System (DAS) design, and enable ongoing network integration and optimization. The i.Walk solution consists of the Invex.NxG in-building test and measurement software on CD, hardware license key, and i.Scan digital scanning receiver all housed in a rugged transport case. A touch screen palmtop computer pre-loaded with the Invex.NxG in-building application is available as an option. The entire solution is supported by Andrew, an industry leader in wireless network design, measurement and testing solutions. The i.Walk Solution Comes Complete with: The Invex.NxG in-building test and measurement software Optional palmtop computer with USB hardware license key The i.Send portable signal transmitter, complete with carry case and accessories i.Scan digital scanning receiver
14

Survey the Existing RF Environment The most critical step in the design of your in-building wireless network may just be the very first onebefore the first cable is laid or the first link is designed. By surveying the RF environment of any building, i.Walk can reveal sources of interference and areas of poor or no coverage; key information that factors into your network design and antenna location. Using i.Walk to survey the RF environment of an existing building is easy. The user simply connects the i.Scan digital receiver to the i.Walk palmtop computer and sets it to the desired frequency bands. Than, following a walk route that is superimposed on top of the buildings floor plan, the user takes RF readings. Once the survey is completed, the log file can be analyzed and the results used to create the most efficient DAS design. Verify Proper Design By verifying that the DAS will perform as designed, before installation, i.Walk can maximize CAPEX savings and minimize disruption. We all know the costs and impact of redesigning an installed DAS system has to the hotel guests, shoppers, etc. that are in the facilities where the DAS system was installed. To verify the design, the user connects the i.Send transmitter to the desired antenna which is positioned on a tripod as per the DAS design. The transmitter is set to the desired frequencies and power and is switched from Stand By to Transmit mode via a Wi-Fi connection. The user than uses a palmtop computer and the i.Scan receiver to collect the signal measurements. The insane mobile transmitter can be customized to emulate GSM and WCDMA RF standards at a wide variety of frequencies, and power settings. This test is repeated for each antenna position, so that the performance of the entire network can be verified. The i.Walk system can also be used around the exterior of the building to determine the amount of RF leakage, which is a key to increasing network efficiency and reducing OPEX costs. Integration and Optimization Once the in-building network design is verified and the network installed, i.Walk is an invaluable tool in making sure the network meets system requirements and is optimized for the best performance. Periodic walk tests can help ensure that the network is performing as designed and that the impact of the surrounding RF environment is minimal. The results of these walk tests should form part of the network documentation.

How IBS create Indoor Coverage System

With the public wireless cellular systems and the need of calling and talking from everywhere a real challenge for all operators is to cover large indoor areas such as Shopping, malls, buildings, parking lots, etc. This indoor coverage was made possible by using microcells, repeaters and bi-directional amplifiers which are connected to small discreet antennas displayed in strategic spots to capture and send signals from inside to outside.

Typical example of indoor distribution with discreet antennas.

17

Omnidirecional Antennas Omni antennas radiate a constant power across the full azimuth. Disturbances of the free-field conditions therefore have a particularly intensive influence on the horizontal radiation pattern of the antenna.

This means that a real circular horizontal pattern can only be created if the antenna is mounted on the tip of a mast. Mounting on the side of a mast, which usually consists of a good reflecting material (steel, concret), changes the pattern considerably.

Decisive factors are the spacing between the mast and the antenna as well as the mast dimensions.

Benefits of IBS Better coverage, enhanced revenue Improved coverage and capacity inside the building will increase revenue for the operators and give an edge over the competition. In-building solutions enable quick payback on investments and are measured in terms of higher traffic volumes and revenues, which otherwise would have been lost. By offloading traffic from macro cell networks, In-building solutions ensure a higher quality of service with fewer dropped calls. Shared infrastructure IBS sharing reduces the total cost of ownership, since both the investment cost and the maintenance expenses are shared among several operators. With only one set of antennas and faster rollout, it offers tremendous benefits to the operators, without comprising the aesthetics of the building. Future proof Shared IBS support next generation Wireless LAN technology and IP based solutions. Efficient spectrum utilization By using the distributed antenna design technique, the antennas keep the signals indoors, minimizing the impact and interference from outside the building. This results in efficient utilization of the spectrum.
22

Low power requirement With a dedicated In-building solution, the radio traffic will generate less interference due to more precise cell borders, resulting in low power requirement and improved radio performance. Provide mobility and flexibility The in-building network allows subscribers to make uninterrupted calls anywhere inside the building. Short delivery time and fast expansion Usage of standard products in standard configurations results in short lead time and facilitates faster expansion, for the operators.

Suggestion:-

1) Viom networks should increase the rent Because other IBS providers like Vodafone,

GTL, Idea, Airtel and Reliance provide rent higher than Viom Networks. 2) Viom network is already late in IBS Project so Viom networks have to approach them as earlier as possible. 3) According to us Viom networks should approach Surat first than Ahmedabad...

Conclusion:According to us, some of the malls in Ahmedabad having already IBS of different companies and they have already short term contract so we have to focus on the malls and hospitals because in the hospitals we have opportunity to cover Our IBS procedure. Business Park and commercial complex also having a big opportunity because mostly they have no IBS and they are showing their interest in IBS According to us in Surat, rather than government building, commercial complex and hotel IBS has mores opportunity and in the mall and business park. They have already IBS of different companies but they also interested in our IBS Project
