Writing 3.2 Composing, revising and editing poems by checking the accuracy of spelling, punctuation and grammar. Speaking 3.2 Taking part in conversations and discussions by creating a poem which uses literary devices. 3.2 Reciting poems aloud and clearly by stressing the important phrases. Previous knowledge: Students have learnt 1. Literary devices such as alliteration and metaphor. 2. Construct poems that rhyme. Learning outcomes: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Identify poetic devices in the poem. 2. Create a four-line poem using literary devices such as repetition, alliteration, simile, metaphor and symbol and personification. 3. Recite their poems to class with correct pronunciation and intonation.

1. Teacher informs the students that they are going to focus on today s poetic devices. 2. Teacher recaps on previous lesson. 3. Teacher then explains the poetic devices. 4. Teacher provides students with some examples of the poetic devices. 5. Teacher asks students to identify the poectic devices to make sure students have understood what they have learnt. 6. Students and teacher give their feedback.

1. Teacher asks the students not to open their book. 2. Teacher will read the poem and the students need to listen to it carefully. 3. Teacher then asks the students to form a group of three and identify the literary devices that can be found in the poem. 4. Students can refer to the textbook and find their answer in the poem in the textbook. 5. Students attempt and complete the task. 6. Teacher asks the students to write their answers on the whiteboard. 7. Teacher discusses the answers with the students.

1. Teacher asks the students to pair up. 2. Teacher gives each pair a piece of paper. 3. Teacher informs the students that they are going to compose a four line poem using any poetic devices of their choice. 4. Teacher asks students to give appropriate titles for their poems. 5. Students attempt on the task. 6. Teacher asks each pair to recite their poems. 7. Teacher rewards the students by publishing their poems in the monthly English Club magazine.
