COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course students should be able to apply different lexical
items in the construction of written and oral discourse as well as develop
learning strategies to acquire vocabulary and expressions in L2.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• Characterise different periods in the history of the English Language

• Characterise word formation processes in the English language
• Analyse words in terms of free and bound morphemes
• Identify different registers and pragmatic contexts
• Use vocabulary, jargon and expressions appropriately
