BLACK HOLE ENCYCLOPEDIA

YOU WILL BE CREATING AN ENCYCLOPEDIA THAT CONTAINS ALL THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE ON BLACK HOLES.

Using the Hubble Site listed to the left, you will research the information for each of the pages listed below. For each question listed, create a page in your encyclopedia.

What is a black hole? Do black holes obey the laws of gravity? How big is a black hole? What types of black holes are there? What does a safe orbit look like? Draw a safe orbit around a black hole (including the gravitational potential and the effective potential). Can black holes bend light rays? What happens when black holes collide? What is inside a black hole?

Explain how time is different in a black hole. Draw a comic strip of at least four panels that describes what it looks like when you approach and enter a black hole. Be sure to describe each panel in detail. Do black holes live forever? Pick 7 different vocabulary words to include in your encyclopedia, for each word include a definition.
