Presidents Talk:
The administrative teams are happy to congratulate the students of EEE for their enthusiasm towards their magazine "ELECTRITIEZ-12". Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength of the nation. Critical-thinking and critical-literacy skills are the tools students need to develop into active, responsible participants in the global community. I believe this magazine will help you in pursuing your goals in a more effective and meaningful way for success.... M. Sheshagiri Rao, President of Bapatla educational society.

ELECTRITIEZ-12

PRINCIPALS MESSAGE:

I wish to emphasize
on certain values for students of today. Self-discipline is the only very first value which can help a student to develop a disciplined mind that gives a bright future for every student. Next, time planning is rudimental to success. Time which is limited in supply is always in demand. A self-disciplined student manages time very well by way of proper time planning to achieve his or her goal. Last but not the least is the selfdiscipline which gives healthy body and mind and keeps a student always away from feelings of hatred and egoism. I call upon the students to scrupulously adopt and follow these values for betterment of their future. Electrical students done a very excellent job today. This magazine ELECTRITIEZ shows their planning, self-discipline and enthusiasm towards the work. I heartly congratulated my dear students....
Dr. K. SRINIVASU,

Principal of Bapatla engineering college.

Conventional rockets generate thrust by burning chemical fuel. Electric rockets propel space vehicles by applying electric or electromagnetic fields to clouds of charged particles, or plasmas, to accelerate them. Although electric rockets offer much lower thrust levels than their chemical cousins, they can eventually enable spacecraft to reach greater speeds for the same amount of propellant. Electric rockets high-speed capabilities and their efficient use of propellant make them valuable for deep-space missions. Electric rockets for deep space exploration

Alone amid the cosmic blackness, NASA's Dawn space probe speeds beyond the orbit of Mars toward the asteroid belt. Launched to search for insights into the birth of the solar system, the robotic Spacecraft is on its way to study the asteroids Vesta and Ceres, two of the largest remnants of the planetary planets. But the goals of the mission are not all that make this flight notable. Dawn, which took off in September 2007, is powered by a kind of space propulsion technology that is starting to take centre stage for long-distance missions a plasma rocket engine. Such engines, now being developed in several advanced forms, generate thrust by electrically producing and manipulating ionized gas propellants rather than by burning liquid or solid chemical fuels, as conventional rockets do. Wireless Charging of Mobile Phones Using Microwaves

Mobile phones being a basic part of life and the recharging of batteries are
always a problem. This paper is new proposal made so as to make the recharging of the mobile phones is done automatically as you talk in your mobile phone. This is done by use of microwaves. Microwave wavelengths range from approximately one millimeter to thirty centimeters. Microwaves are good for transmitting information from one place to another because microwave energy can penetrate haze, light rain and snow, clouds, and smoke. Microwave radiation is still associated with energy levels that are usually considered harmless. The basic addition to the mobile phone is going to be the rectenna. A retina is a rectifying antenna, a special type of antenna that is used to directly convert microwave energy into DC electricity. The diode rectifies the current induced in the antenna by the microwaves. In laboratory environments, efficiencies above 90% have been observed with regularity. Antennas can be of any shape such a way to maximize the microwave absorption in order to convert it back to electricity. The sensor circuitry is a simple circuit, which detects the mobile phone service provider signal. This simple F to V converter, this would serve our purpose. On the reception of the signal the sensor circuitry directs the rectenna circuit to ON and the mobile phone begins to charge using the microwave power as long as the user talks over cell phone. Thus this method provides great advantage to the mobile phone users to carry their phones anywhere even if the place is devoid of facilities for charging .

Generation of electricity by speed breakers

This is the new method of electricity generation. This is

about GENERATION OF ELECTRICITY with the SPEED BREAKERS. Generally when vehicle is in motion it produces various forms of energy like, due to friction between vehicles wheel and road i.e. rough surface HEAT Energy is produced. When vehicle travelling at high speed strikes the wind then also heat energy is produced which is always lost in environment and of which we cant make use of.OR directly we can say that all this energy that we cant make use of is just the WASTAGE OF ENERGY that is abundantly available

around us. In this mechanism to generate power by converting the potential energy generated by a vehicle going up on a speed breaker into kinetic energy. The output of this shaft is coupled to a dynamo to convert kinetic energy into electricity. A vehicle weighing 1,000 kg going up a height of 10 cm on such a rumble strip produces approximately 0.98 kilowatt power. They could actually light up small villages off the highway.

HEEL GENERATOR

A new kind of small generator which consists of two permanent magnetic

plates and two coils is proposed. The two magnetic plates face each other and the coils are arranged between them. Since this generator is so small to be embedded inside the heel of a shoe, it is named "heel generator". So, here Non-conventional energy using foot step is converting mechanical energy into the electrical energy. Two magnetic plates are pressed and separated every step while a man walks. Then, the number of flux linking through the coils changes and the emf is induced in them. During a man is walking, this generator develops the electric power which is useful to charge a battery. In this paper, we present the principle, the structure and the basic characteristics of heel generator. Recently, the portable electronic equipments like the telephones and the computers have been widely used. Dumping their waste batteries causes severe environmental problems. We propose a new kind of small generator which can be embedded inside the heel of a shoe. As an application of this generator, it develops the useful electric power to warm a foot while a man walks Rayani.Sreenu (3/4EEE-B) Amrutha raj (3/4EEE-B)

NEW REVOLUTIONARY ENERGY SOURCE

Who discovered electricity??

While many believe Benjamin Franklin to be the father of electricity, current findings seem to show otherwise in 1752 Franklin is said to have performed the famous experiment of flying a kite during a thunderstorm seem to show, which led to the discovery that lightning and electricity were somehow related. In 1800, Italian-born physicist Alessandro Volta constructed the voltaic pile, the first device to produce a steady electric current. Volta discovered that certain chemical reactions could produce electricity. Volta also created the first transmission of electricity by linking positively-charged and negativelycharged connectors and driving an electrical charge, or voltage, through them. Being more energy efficient is the way of the future. PERSONAL HOME POWER PLANT: (WHAT

Bloom box is a new fuel cell that can power homes using less energy. The inventor is K. R. Sridhar, CEO of Bloom Energy, has invented a miniature backyard power plant that could generate enough power for your home without any connection to the local electric grid. He envisions his tiny Bloom Energy sees a great market for this kind of independent and future supplanted energy source to replace costly big power plants and grid transmission. The whole design is eco- friendly and a nice alternative. No precious metals used, the Bloom Energy fuel cell incorporates flat wafer technology, and easily fabricated without the need of a clean room. Bloom Energy plans to lower the cost and reduce its size of the Box thus enabling all people to have one in their own basement. Vishnu (3/4EEE-B) T.Purna (3/4EEE-B)

Opto electric nuclear battery

An Opto-electric nuclear battery is a device that converts nuclear energy into light, which it then uses to
generate electrical energy. A beta-emitter such as technetium-99 or strontium-90 is suspended in a gas or liquid containing luminescent gas molecules of the excimer type, constituting dust plasma." This permits a nearly lossless emission of beta electrons from the emitting dust particles. The electrons then excite the gases whose excimer line is selected for the conversion of the radioactivity into a surrounding photovoltaic layer such that a lightweight, low-pressure, high-efficiency battery can be realized. These nuclides are relatively low-cost radioactive waste from nuclear power reactors. The diameter of the dust particles is so small (a few micrometers) that the electrons from the beta decay leave the dust particles nearly without loss. The surrounding weakly ionized plasma consists of gases or gas mixtures (such as krypton, argon, and xenon) with excimer lines such that a considerable amount of the energy of the beta electrons is converted into this light. The surrounding walls contain photovoltaic layers with wide forbidden zones as e.g. diamond which converts the optical energy generated from the radiation into electrical energy. The battery would consist of an excimer of argon, xenon, or krypton (or a mixture of two or three of them) in a pressure vessel with an internal mirrored surface, finely-ground radioisotope, and an intermittent ultrasonic stirrer, illuminating a photocell with a band gap tuned for the excimer. When the beta active nuclides (e.g., krypton-85 or argon-39) emit beta particles, they excite their own electrons in the narrow excimer band at a minimum of thermal losses that this radiation is converted in a high band gap photovoltaic layer (e.g. in p-n diamond) very efficiently into electricity. The electric power per weight compared with existing radionuclide batteries can then be increased by a factor 10 to 50 and more. If the pressure-vessel is carbon fiber /epoxy the weight-to-power ratio is said to be comparable to an air-breathing engine with fuel tanks. The advantage of this design is that precision electrode assemblies are not needed, and most beta particles escape the finely-divided bulk material to contribute to the battery's net power.

Power formers

At present, a new concept of rotating machines enables direct connection of synchronous

generators to the transmission network without any intervening step-up transformer. Such synchronous machines are called Power formers. Power former revolutionizes the age-old power generation technology and makes a quantum leap in electrical engineering. Some of the advantages of a Power former energy system are primarily due to elimination of step-up transformer. Losses in a step-up transformer and medium voltage us-work are completely avoided. It also results in reduction of the number of components, thus achieving lower maintenance costs, a more compact plant design & greater plant reliability & availability. Problems of partial discharge and a humid environment are no longer an issue with Power former. Direct connection of generator to grid results in lower fault currents in the event of short circuits between the phases as compared to a conventional generator due to the increased voltage level. Power former has significantly less environmental impact than conventional generating units. The higher efficiency of Power former allows higher power generation using the same amount of fuel or the same amount of electrical energy using less fuel reducing the total emission for power generation. Power former contains fewer hazardous substances. For example, no epoxy is used unlike a conventional generator that employs it in the impregnated stator coils.

SOLAR POWER TECHNOLOGY WITH PAINT

T E C H N I C A L

new solar power technology promises to power plants, trains and

automobiles with paint. In fact anything that has exposure to sunlight could be painted for power fences, walls, rooftops even smart phones. The secret is a paint-on, Quantum-dot solar cell technology developed by Ted Sargent, a research chair in Nano-technology at the University of Toronto. The paint is loaded with quantum dots that are extremely small, measuring only a few Nano meters in diameter. These tiny dots can convert sunlight into electricity just like conventional solar cells but unlike traditional solar cells. The solar power cost of quantum dots is a lot cheaper. A square meter of solar paint is about $15 versus $1000 for a comparable solar panel. Solar cells are expensive to manufacture because silicon crystals are grown in high heat furnaces, cooled, then cut into thin wafers in sterile environments. The problem is that our technologies remain relatively inefficient in capturing, converting and storing all these free sunshine. But Sargent believes that the low cost of solar paint will accelerate the use of solar energy. The combination of close packing and charge trap elimination enabled electrons to move rapidly and smoothly through the solar cells, thus providing record efficiently. Covering 150,000 square kilometers of surfaces with solar paint, in theory, would supply the energy requirements for the entire planet.

CHARGING CELL PHONE BY TALKING

In the future, you could charge your cell phone just by chatting. Researchers at South Korea's Sungkyunkwan University have developed a new technology that converts sound waves into electrical energy, with the sound-harvesting tech, batteries could be charged by everything from the human voice and music to the sound of highway traffic. The sound that always exists in our everyday life and environments has been overlooked as a source. This motivated to realize power generation by turning sound energy from speech, music or noise into electrical power. Currently, the researchers have created a prototype that converts sounds around 100 decibels (think: noisy traffic) to 50 millivolts of electricity. Here's how it works: a pad absorbs sound waves and causes zinc oxide wires mounted between electrodes to compress and release, creating an electrical current that can be used to charge a battery. Fifty mill volts arent enough to charge a mobile phone, but the technology could be improved by using different materials. Fortunately, the current prototypes create enough energy to be usable in small, low-power sensors and implantable devices.

A Perfect Mother

Since the moment I entered this world, you have cared for me like no
other. There is only one word to describe you that is in every way a perfect Mother. In the years you have watched me grow, So many memories we can now replay. You've been there to love and protect me, from my birth to this very day. When there's a cloud covering my path, or a problem I am about to face. You'll be the one wipe away my tears, and put everything back in its place. Your warm touch is one of a kind, so gentle to send me to sleep. Your voice is one of an angel, a beauty only you deserve to keep. The way you always make me smile, And the way you play with my hair. When I need to talk, you'll put me first, so I know how much you care. The sun in you're heart will continue, to shine in the future in all you do. The most special person in my life by far, Im happy to say is you! ! ! L I T E R A L

How realistic is the world in 2012?

Mayan calendar which covers the time span of more

than 5000 years ends on December 21st 2012. This day will mean the end of the 13th bak'tun, last period of around 400 years in Mayan calendar. The doomsday stories seem to be closely connected with the year 2012, especially since the ancient, While there is a certainly truth that the Mayan civilization knew whole lot of things about astronomy there's no evidence whatsoever, that the December 21st 2012 means the end of the world, it only means the end of Mayan calendar and nothing else. The most popular doomsday theory connected with Mayan calendar is the one about the infamous planet Nibiru that was supposedly discovered by the ancient Sumerians. Under this theory the planet Nibiru should collide with Earth in 2012, and even if it doesn't hit our planet its passage through our Solar system would cause fatal damage to our planet. This astronomical disaster was first announced for 2003, and after that it was postponed to December 2012 in order to match with Mayan calendar. The NASA scientists have announced several times that if such planet would actually be on course to collide with earth they would be able to monitor it for at least couple of Decades and today we could be even able to see this planet with naked eyes. The increased solar activity is also no reason for panic in 2012 because even the almighty Sun doesn't have enough energy to send a

killer solar flare 93 million miles to destroy Earth. There also seems to be no big asteroid heading our way. Even the infamous 2005 YU55 asteroid hasn't done any damage to our planet when it passed next to Earth in November 2011, and according to NASA there are no deadly asteroids currently heading our way though some tabloids were even suggesting that NASA hides the truth about this asteroid hitting our planet. From the astronomical point of view there seems to be no danger whatsoever, in terms of possible disaster that would end all life on our planet in 2012. Instead of worrying about the cataclysmic scenarios world should rather start worry about the long-term effects of climate change because this looks to be the only real threat that could seriously disrupt our future life on Earth? SMILE
She smiled at a sorrowful stranger. The smile seemed to make him feel better. He remembered past kindnesses of a friend and wrote him a thank-you letter. The friend was so pleased with the thank-you that he left a large tip after lunch. The waitress, surprised by the size of the tip, bet the whole thing on a hunch.

The next day she picked up her winnings, and gave part to a man on the street. The man on the street was grateful; For two days hed had nothing to eat. After he finished his dinner, he left for his small dingy room. (He didnt know at that moment that he might be facing his doom.) On the way he picked up a shivering puppy and took him home to get warm. The puppy was very grateful to be in out of the storm. That night the house caught on fire. The puppy barked the alarm. He barked til he woke the whole household and saved everybody from harm. One of the boys that he rescued grew up to be president. All this because of a simple smile that hadnt cost a Paisa.

TIME MANAGEMENT SKILL

What have you done today to move you closer to

your dreams? Are you expecting to wake up one morning and suddenly do everything to achieve your dream in just that one day? Aristotle said, We are what we repeatedly do. Success is a daily habit. Its the little things you do every day that will get you to your destination. 1. Cultivate a habit of reading 2. Do the things first 3. Put first things first Its usually not the dramatic, the visible, the once-in-a-lifetime, up-by-the-bootstraps effort that brings enduring success. Empowerment comes from learning how to use this great endowment in the decisions we make every day.
What we need to do is concentrate on the things that are most important. The hard part is that these are usually the things that are not urgent. Yet they are things that will make the biggest difference to our lives. Why not turn off the television set tonight and read an inspiring book? Why not take a quiet moment to sit down and write down what you want to do with the rest of your life? Why not spend some time with your kids rather than with the guys at the bar? Why not take a few minutes to read the holy book today?

Conclusion: If you have not done anything today to get you closer to your dreams you are not a dreamer, you are a wisher. Wake up and do something about it or watch the dreamers take hold of their dreams, one little step each day. In the words of Jim Rohn, Motivation is what gets you started. Habits are what keep you going, Develop the habit of putting first things first today. Work on your dreams each and every day. You are all you can be. Go on and be it!

BOOK OF MEMORY
Hidden in the attic, All the way upstairs, Is something very special? That I would like to share. My hopes, My dreams, Old photographs, Of good times and bad times that make me laugh. The joy of a happiness, The thrill of a mischiefs, Leaves me to remember the pure, simple bliss. I cry for the fun, And giggle for the pain, I enjoyed the good life I was able to maintain. The thoughts and wishes, they all stay with me, All of these contained in my book of memories.

WHY SHOULD I STUDY?

It is a pleasant evening in the sands of the popular SURYA LANKA

beach. The climate is moderate and it is about to dusk. The tides of Bay of Bengal are seems to be ambitious to reach the dry sands. There we sat a group of dynamic guys immersed in a jubilant and loud exchange of jokes and words. Yes, they are the just pass outs of the final year E.E.E of B.E.C, having communicate together after the announcement of 4/2 results. A small but not all team of 24 members gathered to celebrate the occasion. For every occasion, somebody has to bell the cat. Here, with the flair of his social network Mr.SANTOSH took initiative of it. The enthusiastic group are of anxiety to share their feelings as they are about to disperse and part with one another. A formal introduction and boosting of his efforts for the arrangement permitted and Santosh narrated his experiences, feelings and good efforts made for the get together. PREM, a sober, back bench, typical but friendly guy took the chance to share his hot and sweet feelings and experiences of his stay during last 4 years. At his opening remark nobody was serious to listen, as their impression about Prem made them so. Slowly Prem is coming

with his realistic and original heart touch feelings. Then his friends raised their eye brows and listening to him. He started. . WHY SHOULD I STUDY? I questioned myself studied for 10 years in a semi urban private English medium school, and faced usual corporate school student problems to get 90% in my 10th class. I was teased by all and sundry and vexed up to 90% to the study and school atmosphere. Of course, you are also having the similar experience. That corporate college fellow offered 50% discount for 1st inter fee and I had to join the college, located in the coconut garden. Knowingly or unknowingly I worked like a reading machine aiming at least 100 marks in EAMCET, of course it resulted into 100% vexation towards books and study. L I T E R A L

And

then

what

happened? his friend asked with curiosity. However it is the universal experience of all the others but Prem could express in informal way. I got some 8000+ rank in EAMCET and joined our college. The leisure in the afternoon session has given a good relief. My joy knew no bounds. I use to take lunch in the afternoon and enjoyed sleep as if I am covering the arrears of my lost hours in inter. No disciplined hostel, nor the control of parents or warden. Oh..!, this is the time of enjoyment and spent the free hours with new friends. The mobile in my hand was like a gift of god and I do not remember how many offers I enjoyed for messages. Senior

boys, friends, classmates and girlfriends with other branches all are in my chatting pad. Believe me, at one stage I have neither time to take dinner nor to talk to my parents. While enjoying the 1st year in such a way and I seldom ply text books to somehow pass the tests. Very sooner the year end exams have come, I forget about the preparation of exams in my busy with preparation tourney and other allied activities. On knowing the timetable of exams I posed a question to myself WHY SHOULD I STUDY STILL..? The answer is 6 backlogs at the year end. . . . [The friends hearing around him are pity but they are also in same line]. In my educational career, I failed in an exam for the 1st time and everybody criticised and abused like anything. Ofcourse my mom and dad did not disclose to our relatives and neighbours for face saving. During my 2nd year the black and white reel of colourful 1st year haunted me In taking rectification steps. I am dilemmatic to go to a movie and sometimes not ready to share a table in restaurant. Here, I have to tell u that my mom is sentimental and emotional but my dad is practical and realistic. I started also sparing time to both of them and heed to their preachings. I cannot cut all, what cannot but be termed as EXTRAS overnight. Friends, I am coming to reality from the cloud of enjoyment to the taste of preparation. I sincerely started gathering study material for the 2nd year and for backlogs. Somehow I pulled on the cart of 2nd year with 2 net liabilities. My third year was a combination of study with responsibility and enjoyment in a balancing way. Ofcourse, I enjoyed the movies in the nearby towns and spent hours in KONA RESTAURENT with a clinch to do justice to third year

syllabus also. On and off my mood is disturbed by chatting of the silly girl friends that have finished their courses. I slowly started control over me. For gods sake I could come out at the end of third year. It is just because of my tuning of mind and due to teachings of my experiences. You all know that 4th year is less theoretical and more analytical. Its really a cake-walk for me with the support of the H.O.D, our staff and friends like you. It is still a surprising for me how my communication was liked by the T.C.S. Anyhow I got an answer to the question posed to myself in the 1st year WHY SHOULD I STUDY STILL..?? is . . . . . . . WE SHOULD STUDY STILL, STILL, STILL MORE. But in a lively, practical and a realistic manner. Sorry, I have bowed a lot, and I dont want to miss this last chance. . . . . . . . . The friends were excited and they said all in one voice The same, the same our views are the same, with wet eyes. . . . . . . . . . L I T E R A L

This is not the life I ordered for!!!

Life!!

I wondered what it really meant!

This is the question Ive been asking myself since ages. Does it belong to people only who succeed? On what basis it chooses to be simple? Can I make it my way?? Lots of questions . Dilemma... Everything is blank and dark. Life is a beautiful package of events, moments and surprises... Every feeling that ever existed is inextricable from this package. Life doesnt belong only to who succeed because success

and failure are like close associates and change sides most frequently. An anonymous said A person, who hadnt failed in his life, has never really lived. And thats the essence of life. People commit suicide to escape life. Perhaps their utmost loneliness and fear of tomorrow might be the reasons that led them there. Your heart will be your best pacifier and encourages you all the time when you are desperate and lonely. Only thing is you need to catch the call correctly... He who fears not the future can enjoy the present Thomas fuller. This gives you the whole thing... When life is full of happiness and joy I recon you dont have any part to play. Life have to be difficult and you need to make it as simple as possible not searching the solutions but by understanding it. And this could be achieved by HOPE. And hope is what drives us daily because you never know whether youll survive but still you l plan for the next day... Cheer up, Chill out and make your life your way past has gone, future you never know, so you have this moment fresh and beautiful readily available to live and cherish. L I T E R A L
