The following are submissions from local Tea Party Leaders. As you will read, the groups are active and focused on the upcoming elections. The unifying beliefs in limited government and liberty are clear. The Saddle Up Spotlight will continue to publish the real words and promote the authentic activities of these and other groups from the Greater Houston Area. Next issue will include more comments from other area groups.

Houston Tea Party Society

Felicia Cravens, President www.HoustonTPS.org The November 2012 election is drawing nearer, but there is much to do between now and Election Day. The primary date for Texas has been moved back several times due to the redistricting lawsuits. This means Texas is quickly losing the chance to have additional influence on the national level in the Republican primary. However, the primary and convention process is still hugely important to Texans committed to shrinking government and growing freedom. This spring Houston Tea Party Society is planning several activities to help voters prepare for the primary as well as the general election. Since the usual convention process (where party leadership is chosen) will likely be bypassed due to the late primary, HTPS will be educating voters on how to participate in the state conventions. Leaders for the Texas parties as well as the national parties are chosen at convention, and if youve ever groused about party leadership, well show you how you can be a part of the process to choose who leads the parties. In addition, this spring HTPS plans to host a candidate expo for Harris County, where you can meet the candidates running for various local offices and vote for your favorite in our Second Houston Tea Party Society Straw Poll. The response two years ago was amazing, so HTPS is ready to bring voters and candidates together again. Look for our Voters Guide soon as well!

Clear Lake Tea Party

Tanya Robertson, Chair www.clearlaketeaparty.com Clear Lake Tea Party started preparing for the 2012 Election year immediately after the 82nd Texas Legislature Session was over. At that time, we started searching tirelessly for candidates to run against the incumbents in our area that were not true to their constituents or their party's platform. When, one by one, 3 of our board members committed to running for state and federal offices. At that time, we knew we had our work cut out for us and later added 2 more board members running for local offices. Our focus has been to expose our candidates to as many Primary voters as possible, help the Republican Party locate conservative Precinct Chairs, grow our voting base by providing Deputy Voter Registrar classes, finding venues to register conservative voters, continue our Pastor outreach project, provide continuing education Town Hall meetings, host candidate forums, and implement other outreach projects. This week, we started the "CLTP Mission: 2012 Primary" project and have recruited members to form CLTP PALs (Patriot Activist for Liberty). Our PALs will be our boots on the ground because we know that is the only chance we have to win our beloved country back and fight to keep our state. I am very thankful that SUTSP is coordinating this newsletter to connect the greater Houston area Tea Parties & like groups. It is so important that we remain independent as groups but if something is working for one group, why reinvent the wheel? I am all for sharing information to help save time & money for all of us. The only way we will save America is to work together toward a common goal. Looking forward to receiving the new SUTSP Newsletter and sharing information to grow our movement! Katy Tea Party

Darcy Kahrhoff, President www.katyteaparty.org Katy Tea Party 2.0 After humble beginnings and local success, Katy Tea Party Patriots experienced growing pains and some major reorganization. We have a new board, new organizational structure, and new challenges. We still have out of control government at all levels local, state, and national. However, the glamour and excitement has left the Tea Party Movement, and the time for rallies has passed. The hard-working, employed, conservative Tea Partier is worn down, tired, and lost. Politicians continue to play politics, while Americans watch our freedoms ebb away. Katy Tea Party is left to answer the question How do we reignite the Tea Party spark from three years ago? Rallies, trainings, and speakers can bring lots of people to a Tea Party event, but Katy Tea Party wants our members to become involved in the process at a deeper level. We need to be speaking with our government representatives, engaging in our local county political parties, working for a candidate or political party on Election Day, and running for elected government positions. It is no longer enough for conservatives to work hard for a living, pay their taxes, and vote in elections it is time to get personally involved! Katy Tea Party 2.0 is going to represent a reboot of the Tea Party Movement. We will bring in training sessions for activists and candidates, encourage our members to go to MUD and HOA meetings, and bring in candidates for local, state, and national offices for our members to speak with. It is time to kick-start the Tea Party Movement! We must defeat the progressive, biggovernment politicians in 2012, before we lose the United States of America forever.

Pearland TEA Party was born in February, 2011 out of frustration and fear. Frustration with elected officials sent to the state houses and to Washington DC who appear to forget the promises they made to get elected as well as fear of the policies coming out of those legislative bodies. The first half of 2011 was spent making trips to Austin in the effort to hold them accountable. This effort was supported by many of the TEAs in Texas. Not only did we become more aware of the way Austin works, it was a great time of getting to know people involved with the TEAs around the state. The rest of the year has been a focus on candidate forums and most especially, the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll. 2012 is off and running with more candidate forums and working to help our many TEA

members as they seek elected office. It looks to be an exciting year as we move toward the very important election in November. The policies of the current administration are destructive to the very fabric of our democracy. These policies in the area of energy and food are having immediate effect on the lives of all Americans. This newsletter gives me encouragement that all of the patriots working so hard at the area TEAs will have the information to support each other. Together we are strong! A big thanks goes to the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll for the opportunity to be involved. Contact us by email at: pearlandteaparty@gmail.com
