Persephoni Moore March 30, 2011 EDEL 433 Ballard Wiener Fieldwork Activity #1

For my first field work activity, I created a Math Concentration game. In this game, students take turns trying to match equations, in this case addition equations, with the sum. The equations are on the blue cards and the answers to them are on the purple cards. Whenever a student finds a match with an equation and an answer, they get to have another turn. However if a student does not find a match on their turn, they must pass their turn to the next person.

I played this game with four students at a time and it went great! They really enjoyed this game. They were very determined to find a match to the equation they chose and they didnt even realize that they were learning! Overall, the Math Concentration game was a success! I was very scared that the students wouldnt understand it or my description of the rules to the game. I was also worried about classroom management and behavior issues that may have happened with the students. However they were so anxious to play the game, they behaved wonderfully, helped each other out to find matches to the equations and cheered for each other when they found a match. My worries were easily swept away and my fieldwork activity was great!
