# Introductiom to Number System

## Decimal Number System

The Decimal Numbers are represented as base 10. In Decimal Number the digits may be any number from '0' to '9. In Decimal Number system we can express any decimal number in units,tens,hundreds & so on.

## Binary Number System

In Binary Nuber system numbers are represented as base 2. In Binary number system only the digits '0' or '1' can be used.

Example:Represent binary number 1101.101 in power of 2 & find its decimal equivalent.

## Octal Number System

The Octal Number are represented as base 8. In Octal number system only the digits '0' through '7' are used ('8' or '9' is not allowed).

Example:Represent octal number 567 in power of 8 & its decimal equivalent. Solution:5X82 + 6X81 + 7X80
= 5X64 + 6X8 + 7X1

=320 + 48 + 7

=375

In Hexadecimal number system numbers are represented as base 16. And they having digits: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E and F. It is another number system that is particularly useful for human communication with a computer.

Example:Represent hexadecimal number 3FD in power of 16 and find its decimal equivalent. Solution:3X162 + FX161 + DX160 = 3X256 + F(15)X16 + D(13)X1 = 768 + 240 +13 = 102110
