What is Sentinel ?
Its a control system

designed and built by Turbine Services as a replacement for the G.E. Speedtronic controllers.

A system with in built options A low cost alternative to the OEM systems Uses state of the art PLC hardware and software

It replaces old analog technology with up to date digital control It improves the overall performance of the gas turbine with a more precise control of the controlling parameters It greatly increases machine reliability It reduces downtime due to improved self diagnostics

On what type of turbines is it fitted ?

To date we have fitted the Sentinel system on Frame 3, 5,6, and 7 type machines. It has amassed over one hundred and fifty thousand running hours

The last twelve months has seen an increase in sales activity for Sentinel despite aggressive sales from our competitors Total sales to date for the product is now in excess of twenty five units This includes our first unit retrofitted with water injection for Nox abatement

Current Orders

Further sales of systems this year so far have been made to BAPCO and DUBAL and we are continuing to pursue several others both here in the region and through our associates Turbine Services in the UK

Sentinel Development

Over the past year further developments on Sentinel have been made and the system can now be offered with the following options:

Simplex version (One single processor) Duplex version (Two processors) Duplex version with separate protection module (To meet EU regulation) A choice of hardware and software (PLC-5, Controllogix, RS View, Wonderware)

Current and Future Development

Working with our colleagues in Siemens to develop a Sentinel system using the Siemens S7 control system (This would be offered where the client has a preference for Siemens over the Allen Bradley solution

Cost Analysis of Product

Over the past few months we have been looking at ways to bring our costs down to a level where we can match our competitors in what has become a very aggressive market We are at this time assessing a third party PLC supplier on technical issues to ascertain whether their system will meet with our specification
