Pre-Assessment Content

Below is a replica of the pre-assessment chart (see attached Work-packet) I distributed among the participants of the workshop. Within the response boxes, I placed the amount of participants who chose that particular answer.

Rate yourself as to how each of these statements apply to you 1. I am able to use the internet on a regular basis. 2. I am familiar with Web 2.0 tools. 3. I am able to use technology as a way for my students to complete assignments. 4. I am able to use technology as a way to differentiate my instruction. 5. I am able to use technology as a way to present lessons/activities to my students. 6. I am able to use technology as a way to encourage my students to be innovative and creative. 7. I am able to use technology as a way to encourage my students to be reflective on their performance.

As shown by the above data, many of the participants felt comfortable with technology, but were unsure of what Web 2.0 tools were. I infer that the majority if not all present using Powerpoint or some other basic technological presentation tools. Very basic understanding of the featured topic is what I see. I believe that they underestimated their ability, however.

reflective on their performance.

Considering the above information, I am a bit puzzled as to why there was a drop in the ability to use the internet on a daily basis. Maybe the participants confused Web 2.0 with the internet? Reflectively, I should have clarified the difference between the two. The increase in the knowledge/ability of the Web 2.0 usage was very reassuring. Collectively, more emphasis should have been placed more on the student aspect (how to differentiate [possibly aligning the tools with certain differentiation strategies] and create products) even though there was a noticeable improvement with the #6 dealing with the encouragement of students being innovative and creative. I believe that my main concern would be to revise the ways students can be reflective on their performance. Upon further consideration, I dont think I mentioned much about that aspect at all in my presentation. I should have been more conscientious of what I was covering, and aligned more of the survey questions to my presentation in order to make the relevance of the material more obvious for the learners.

As a result of the presentation, the participants found the material to be effective. I am thrilled that they collectively found the Voki tutorial the most effective since it was my main feature. Possible revisions would include creating a more thorough presentation of the material instead of providing screenshots and a quick perusal through the tools website. I believe I could have provided more products to show the versatility of the tools and possibly aligned them more with Georgia Teaching Standards in order to make the experience more relevant.
