Manovo-Gounda St Floris

Location -The eastern end of Bamingui-Bangoran Province. It is on the international border with Chad. It is home to 57 different types of mammals and nearly 320 species of bird

Threats to this site The main threat to this site comes from trespassers & poachers with little regard for the parks ecosystem It is estimated that poachers have harvested nearly 80% of the parks wildlife Illegal Cattle Grazing inside park boundaries The lowlands are subject to flooding and fire, which effects the plant life

Endangered species Animal 1. Black Rhinoceros- less than 10 left due to poaching 2. The small forest elephant- 2,000-3,000 left due to poaching 3. Leopard 4. Wild dog 5. Crocodile

Plant Life 1. Sudanese-Guinean woodland savannah: Five types as follows A. Terminalia laxiflora wooded savannah B. Isoberlinia doka and Monotes kerstingii woodland C. Pseudocedrela kotschyi and Terminalia macroptera woodland D. mixed lowland woodland or wooded savannah E. Anogeissus leiocarpus and Khaya senegalensis

Protection for the area The site is staffed by a manager and assistant with 5 guards

Occasionally there is help to guard against poachers from local army personnel Basically there is little to no protection for the area

What can be done to help Funding is needed to hire guards to protect the boundaries of this site Organize a volunteer program to supply much needed research
