Using "Shortcuts", also referred to as "Hot Keys", is an efficient way to navigate frequently used commands within the P6 client tool.

Insert Key
Adds data
The data inserted or "added" depends on the current view, the window selected and the field highlighted. For example, pressing insert with an activity highlighted will add an activity. Pressing insert with a WBS element highlighted will insert a WBS node, etc...

This command will launch the new project wizard from most screens in P6.
Ctrl E
First, select the data cell to be copied or "Filled Down" into consecutive or subsequent cells. Next, "Ctrl, left click" to select the subsequent cells that will inherit the new data from the first cell. Execute "Ctrl E" to fill down into these cells.

With the "find" window open, pressing F3 highlights the next data set that matches the current search.

Ctrl O
From within the "Projects" screen, Ctrl-O will open the project you have highlighted or selected or ALL the projects which fall under the EPS node that you have selected. From within other views, Ctrl-O will open the Project Portfolio dialog box & allow you to select project(s) to open.
Ctrl P
Launches the "Print" window Ctrl-P will open your workstations default print menu.
Ctrl V

Refreshes data
Refresh Data displays the most current version of project data, including changes made to the project by other users since you initially opened the project.
Ctrl R
Launches the "Replace" dialog box. Easily allows searching for specific characters within data sets, allowing users to replace each search result with predetermined criteria.
Shift F2
Arranges updates to the project schedule according to the group and sort criteria specified in the current view.

Ctrl Z
Allows users to change information back to its pre-modified value in the Activities, Resources, and Resource Assignments windows. Note: You can only undo modifications in the General, Status, Resources, and Relationships tabs of Activity Details.
