F(x)
Now, we can define the transform function element wise as well as for a collection of elements , we call them as sets!.. B(y)= f(A)(y)=V A(x)
An example..
A crisp set A={0,1};
A= { }; Defined on the universe X={-2, -1, 0, 1, 2} A simple mapping y=|4x|+2; We wish to find the resulting crisp set B on an output universe Y using the extension principle.
From the mapping we see that Y={2, 6, 10} now we want to know the membership values for each element of Y
B(2)= V{A(0)}= 1 B(6)= V{A(-1), A(1)}= V{0,1}= 1 B(10)= V{A(-2), A(2)}= V{0,0}=0; Did u notice?. Only 1 way to get 2 in Y But 2 ways to get 6 and 10 in Y B= { };
