Unit Name: US Presidents Subject: History Grade Level: 3rd Learning Outcomes: Subject Area - 8: History Standard Area - 8.3: United States History 1: 8.3.4.B Locate historical documents, artifacts, and places critical to United States history. 2: 8.3.5.B Illustrate concepts and knowledge of historical documents, artifacts, and places critical to United States history. 3: 8.3.3.C Identify and describe how continuity and change have impacted U.S. history. Outcomes Source: Pennsylvania Department of Education Academic Standards, 3rd Grade, History Activity 5 Description/Rationale: After the students have created their interview videos they will create a mindmap of the President's cabinet including titles, dates, and names of the people that work with the President. Instructional/Behavioral Objectives: 1. To create a mindmap of the President's cabinet. 2. To take information and place people in their correct order according to rank. 3. Follow instructions to save information that will be used at the end of the unit.

Procedures: Have students visit the teacher approved site http://www.ipl.org/div/potus/ and gather information on their chosen President about their Presidents cabinet members. Once the students have gathered the required information have the go to the website https://bubbl.us and create a mindmap of the cabinet starting with the President and moving down in order to the Vice President and the rest of the cabinet members. Be sure to remind the students to add the person title, name, and dates they held the position for.

Once the mindmap is created have the students print the map to CUTEPDF and save their PDF to their Evernote account to later use in the final culminating project.
