ALGORITHM

TB Symptomatic (Cough for 2 weeks or >)

3 Sputum collection

2 or 3 smear POSITIVE = Smear Positive TB

Only 1 Smear Positive Collect another 3 sputum specimens Atleast 1 smear Positive = Smear Positive TB If NOT Positive

Request for Chest X-RAY

Consistent with active TB = Smear Positive TB If Not Consistent: Observe or Further Examination

All 3 smear Negative

Refer to Physician Symptomatic Treatment for 2 to 3 weeks If still with Symptoms = Request Chest X-RAY Abnormal Findings = TB diagnostic Committee Consistient with Active TB = Smear Negative TB
