Based on study of the remuneration market in the UAE and Gulf region and the
need for ADNOC to maintain a more-competitive position to become an "employer
of choice" locally and regionally, ADNOC Management have approved the
enhancement of ADNOC Group Compensation Package with effect from 1"
September, Z008.
These enhancements in the ADNOC Compensation Package are speclfically
pertaining to the following areas:
Salary Scales
- Actual Basic Salaries
- Education Assistance
- Housing
Introduction of General Allowance
Please find attached the Implementation Guidelines for the approved revised
ADNOC Group Compensation Package which are to be strictly adhered to in order
to achieve conSistency and uniformity of application. .
Business Line Directorates are requested to circulate the attached guidelines to
respective Group companies for implementation.

The Implementation Guidelines for the enhanced ACNOC Group Compensation Package
approved by ADNOC Management and Issued on 27

AUgllSt, 2008 are as explained herebelow:
. 1. S,lIIry Scales
The Salary Scales. for UAE National and Expatriate employees have been increased by 20%
(on grade minimum, midpoint and maximum) as shown In the attached tables.
2. General Allowapce
This monthly allowance /las been newly introduced in the ADNOe Group Compensation
Package. With the introduction of the General Allowance. the following existing
allowances will be ceased from being payable w.e.f. 01/09/2008:
For All UAE National Employees
Water & Eleotricity Allowance
Annual Vacation Allowance
For UAE National Employees in Grade 16+ Only
Annual Furniture Maintenance Allowance
car Purchase Allowance (Every 2 years)
Annual Car Fuel Allowance
Annual Car Maintenance Allowance
For Expatriate Emolovees
Water & ElectriCity Allowance
Annual Leave Airfare
The new values of monthly General Allowance corresponding Ie grades are shown in
the attached table. The amount of new monthly General Allowance is fixed for each
grade and increases progressively with the increase of the grade. Unlike Supplemental
Allowance, however, the General Allowance is not a grade-related allowance in the
sense that employees in the grade are not necessarily all entitled to general allowance
as further specified in Point 9 (i.e., General Issues) of these guidelines.
3. Actual Basic Salaries
All UAE National and Expatriate employees who are in service on 01/0912006 will be granted
20% increase on their current baSic salaries.

4. Education Assistance
The Assistance has been enhanced and unified for both UAE National
employees and Expatriate employees as shown in the attached table.
Females on ADNOC's sponsorship are eligible to obtain Education Assistance if their
spouses do not obtain this benefit from their organization (Double Dipping not allowed).
The changes introduced In Education ASSistance are effective the scholastic year 2008-
2009.
Other policy rules and regulations related to Ed.ucation Assistance remain unchanged.
5. Housing Entltl.m.ntsIAllowanC!!f!
The Housing Rental Entitlements for UAE National Employees in Gr. 7+ have been
enhanced as shown in the attached Monthly Entnlements and Annual EntiUements
tables.
UAE National employees opting for encashment of Housing Rental Entitlements will be
cashed out their entitlements on a monthly basis.
For UAE National employees opting for Company arranged aCCOmmodation, the new
Annual Housing Rental Entitlements will apply.
The Housing Entitlements for Expatriate employees in Gr. 7+ have been increased as
per the attached table.
Similar to UAE Nation,,1 the number of c<ltegories for rental purposes has
been decreased from 2 (Single & Married) to 1 category for Expatriate employees.
UAE National employees in grades 1-6 will be paid the Housing Allowance of Oils. 4,400
per month.
Other policy rules and regulations related to Housing remain unchanged.
6. Contracted SUt"
Contracted staff, Whether those engaged directly by the Company or through manpower
agencies, will be paid a salary increase amounting to 20% of the midpoint salary of their
equivalent grades.
7. exMllltary EmplOV!es
These employees win be mOiled to the new midpoints corresponding to their salary grades.
8. Employees Under Development
The Grade/Salary'Progression Scales for UAE National employees under development have
been revised to Incorporats all approved salary changes as given in the attached table.

The calculations of Housin9 Entitlements and General Allowance of UAE National
employees for the period before 01/0912008 have to be based on the previous rates.
whereas calculations for the period on/after 01/09/2008 have to be based on the new
rates. Payment of difference, If applicable. has to be made on pro-rate basis.
For Expatriate employees, the General Allowance should be reduced by the monthly
ODS! of air-ticket for the period 0110912008 to 31/1212008.
Expatriate employees working on a rotational basis will not be entitled to General
Allowance dUt3 to being given air-tickets eaoh time they travel to their country of

Married Female Expatriate Employees will not be paid the General Allowance. But those
who are eligible for Water & Electricity Allowanoe. will continue receiving such
Allowance.
Employees residing in company-owned accommodation in Abu Dhabi and Ruwais will
receive General Allowance, excluding Waler & Electricity Allowance.
All other allowances and benefits for both UAE National and Expatriate employees will
remain unchanged. .
10. Pension/EOSB
Policy rules and regulations governing the calculation of Pension/End of Service Benefits will
remain unchanged.
11. Effective Date
The effective date for implementing the above changes will be 1" September, 2008.
