Research
Yale Department of Biomedical Engineering Dr. Tarek Fahmy, Research Assistant Using DNA plasmid encapsulated nanoparticles to model a potential treatment for autoimmune diseases. Project was presented at the Human and Translational Immunology retreat at Yale University Skills acquired: Experience with FACS, DLS, cell culture, FloJo, removal of murine spleen and bone marrow, liposome extrusion, transfection, lyophilization Observed the effect of fluorination on dendrimer particle size and zeta potential. Skills acquired: DLS Characterized Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWNT) and tested their immunogenic abilities for possible use as a vaccine adjuvant. This was a personal project I designed with the help of mentor Tarek Fadel. I presented my findings at the STARS symposium to members of NIH and Engineering department. Skills acquired: Using Scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, running BCA, micro BCA, and ELISA assays. Spring 2011
