Surveying or land surveying -is the technique, profession, and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or threedimensional position

of points and the distances and angles between them. These points are usually on the surface of the Earth, and they are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes. -The measurement of dimensional relationships, as of horizontal distances, elevations, directions, and angles, on the earth's surface especially for use in locating property boundaries, construction layout, and mapmaking. - the practice of measuring angles and distances on the ground so that they can be accurately plotted on a map. - a branch of applied mathematics that is concerned with determining the area of any portion of the earth's surface, the lengths and directions of the bounding lines, and the contour of the surface and with accurately delineating the whole on paper. - Surveying is the measurement of an area.
