Juhani is the oldest brother in Seven brothers novel which was written by our national writer Aleksis Kivi in 1870. It was one of the first books written in Finnish about the everyday life of a common man. Juhani is impulsive, overbearing and learns new things slowly. Juhani is also the only brother who have visited outside from his home village.

He is a leader of the other six brothers, but he also listens to his other brothers. Juhani is the one that gets married with Venla. Juhani learns to read last of all the brothers. Juhani is a true Finnish hero. An archetype of the stubborn and strong Finnish man who always gets his way somehow.
