Fuels are substances that when burned or consumed produce energy.

For example, c ar engines burn gasoline to produce energy. Most of fuels used today are petrole um substances but not all of the fuels derived from petrol; these fuels are call ed as Alternative fuels. According to the U.S Department of Energy, alternative fueling is defined as fuel s that are essentially non-petroleum and yield energy, security, and environment al benefits. So alternative fuels are the other choice than traditional selections and fuels like diesel and gasoline which are called as conventional when alternative fuels can called as non-conventional fuels and maybe advanced fuels.
