Given: it is a fact as it has been established in studies that generally students in elementary and highschool have low levels of academic performance, especially in science, mathematics and English. Working on this information, what research study could you suggest that may address this problem. By addressing this problem, it means doing something or contributing information to improve on conditions. If you decide to conduct a research or study, what would it be all about? How would you go about doing your study? What would your conceptual framework be? What procedures are you going to implement to gather your data? (Note: going about this study does not require only one design. There could be as many various ways or designs of studies, and yet they will accomplish the same thing, i.e., to improve on conditions in the field of education particularly improving student performance. You may have your own design.) 2. We have studied 3 general classifications of research design or methodologies, with different specific designs under each. Differentiate one classification from the other in terms of a. researchers role in the study; b. conditions in the research environment; c. objective or purpose of the study. 3. In the areas of education, psychology or sociology, it is rather difficult to study behaviors or characteristics as for example. Emotional adjustment, self-concept and the like. What are the different ways or means usually done by a researcher so that such concepts are brought down to a level where they are better observed and measured, or that they are presented more concretely. Why do you say that such means bring these concepts down to a level that is more concrete. (Note: in the whole process of research, from identifying the problem up to analysis or interpretation of data, along the way, one would come across processes that bring down a highly conceptual idea to something that is more concrete or observable.) 4. Describe as much as you can what materials would compromise your Conceptual Framework and the processes that would go into its development. 5. Is there such a thing as best design or methodology?
