Business English Course I (Beginning Level)

Course Description: Introduction to a practical application of basic language usage skills with emphasis on fundamentals of business writing and oral communication in multi-cultural business context, especially ASEAN Community

Course Objectives: After the completion of the business English course I, learners will be able to:

Use English language at the basic level for simple communication at the workplace. Use basic grammars and language functions to communicate accurately, fluently, and appropriately in their workplace.

Develop their pronunciation and stress including intonation patterns. Familiarize with business in multi-cultural context, especially ASEAN Community, and by comparing different international working habits and issues.

Duration: Total 32 hours; 28 hours for instruction and 4 hours for evaluation

Evaluation: To pass this course, learners must complete all of the assignments, and achieve a minimum of 60 per cent on overall evaluation. The weighting of the course assignments is as follows: 1. Inclass assignments 2. Quizzes 3. Presentation 4. Mid-course Evaluation 5. After-course Evaluation Total **Passing Grade is 60%** 20% 20% 20% 20% 20% 100%

Course Content: The course will be composed of most or all of the following subjects, depending on the amount of class time available. The instructor reserves the right to add or delete subjects according to class needs.
