The Cardinal Shehan Center Summer Camp Program offers campers a chance to excel both academically and athletically in an emotionally supportive environment. Our qualified staff is committed to providing a positive experience for your child in a safe and comfortable setting. Campers will have opportunities to use our facilities to the max; swimming, arts and crafts, photography, computers, music, basketball, field sports, tennis, dramatic arts, health and fitness, dance and field trips. We also offer educational math and literacy classes which are taught in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. These programs are run by certified teachers. Kennedy Center Autism Project


The Autism Project provides services for children ages 3 to 21 years of age and their families. Services include: Social Activity Groups as well as Sibling, Recreation and Respite Groups, Behavioral Services, Parent Training and Support and Workshops. Social Activity Groups are small and provide opportunities for children with autism to learn social skills through age appropriate and fun activities. FSW Literacy Volunteers


National External Diploma Program Literacy Volunteers of Southeastern Fairfield County, a division of FSW, offers Fairfield County residents an alternative educational opportunity to obtain their high school diploma called the National External Diploma Program (NEDP). This assessment program awards a high school diploma to adults who have acquired high school-level ability through life experience. This is portfolio assessment program, which offers no classroom instruction so you must have good math, reading and writing abilities; candidates work independently, while maintaining weekly appointments with their EDP advisor/ assessor. The Lighthouse Program brings together community sponsorship in Bridgeport schools to provide students with a safe and supportive environment after school, and during the summer. The Program provides educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities to Bridgeports students through a diversified approach to programming. It also includes athletic and recreational activities designed to motivate participants. The latest evaluation shows Lighthouse students outperforming their peers in every grade for math, science, and writing and in reading for every grade except 4th, where they were on par. Care Coordination is a DCF funded, statewide program which helps families with children/adolescents with serious and complex behavioral and emotional challenges. Using the wraparound process, Care Coordinators assist the family in identifying a team combined of natural and formal supports in a culturally responsive and strength based manner to achieve the familys goals. By working with a supportive team and focusing on the strengths of the youth, family and team, the Care Coordinator helps the family and all the team members to develop a plan of care with the goal of improving the quality of life for the family. Child and Family Guidance Outpatient Behavioral Health Services


180 Fairfield Avenue The Child and Family Guidance Centers Outpatient Behavioral Services provides comprehensive mental health assessment and treatment services to children up to nineteen years of age and their families who are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems. The Center operates three Outpatient Mental Health Clinics, which provide individual, family and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management and advocacy for clients. Services are offered in English and Spanish. The Center is an Enhanced Care Clinic and operates a centralized intake system. All referrals for services are seen for an evaluation within 14 calendar days. Outpatient Behavioral Health also provides assessment and treatment services to adolescents 13-18 years of age who are dealing with substance abuse issues. Child and Family Guidance Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services


180 Fairfield Avenue EMPS is a DCF funded statewide program which provides immediate crisis assessment and intervention for children up through the age of 18 to all communities and individuals. Trained EMPS therapists are immediately accessible through calls to 211, travelling to homes, school and other locations in order to work with families, children and agency staff to provide the best possible crisis intervention and support for up to six weeks. EMPS therapists assist in identifying follow up services and supports in the community. A primary goal of the program is to avoid unnecessary hospitalization. The EMPS program is infused with system-of-care and wraparound values, providing culturally sensitive care and addressing each familys wishes and needs uniquely.
